This is a great opportunity for someone with customer service experience looking to start a career in the charity sector, or move to a larger organisation, to join us a Community Fundraising Assistant and be part of an award-winning fundraising team.

Part of our hugely successful Income Generation division, Shelter’s Community Fundraising team is a new and, currently, small team but with big plans to grow our numbers to have Regional Fundraisers in 12 cities across England and Scotland. Community Fundraising is a key part of Shelter’s long-term fundraising strategy and investment is being made available to fund it. We have recently appointed a new Head of Community Fundraising and are now seeking to expand our team – it’s a great time to join us.

About the role
You’ll be providing administrative support to the Community Fundraising team across a range of activities. But that’s not all. You’ll also be responsible for helping to ensure that everyone who supports Shelter receives the highest standard of supporter care. Liaising with supporters and suppliers, maintaining a database, organising materials for events, assisting with community enquiries and supervising event fundraising volunteers – these are just some aspects of this interesting and varied role.

About you
As well as excellent administrative skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, you’ll need proven experience of using databases (we use Raiser’s Edge). We’ll also be looking for commercial awareness, a customer focused approach and the ability to collaborate effectively with others and build a network of good relationships. Proactive and results-driven, you have lots of initiative too. What's more, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas when appropriate and are keen to develop a thorough understanding of Shelter and the wider sector.
