Are you a strategic HR Business Partner with demonstrable experience of partnering with a variety of services to deliver business objectives? Do you want to work with one of the UK’s leading housing and homelessness charities to enable the delivery of our exciting new strategy?

About you

Already an accomplished HR Business Partner, you will be able to hit the ground running, offering people management support and enabling the People strategy across a range of Shelter’s services.

You will have:

  • The ability to build positive working relationships with senior leaders, offering strategic insight, coaching and playing the role of the critical friend where appropriate.
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with leadership teams to deliver organisational change.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully share information with diverse groups of people, helping to build their understanding of people management practices and policies.
  • Detailed, up-to-date, working knowledge of employment law, being CIPD qualified or equivalent or demonstrable relevant experience

About the role and team

In this key role, you will build influential relationships with our leadership teams and provide strategic partnering to identify goals and priorities, translating these into clear People plans to support the achievement of business objectives. You will support constructive conflict management, with the ability to lead on challenging situations and empower mangers to do the same.

In addition, you will work with the Head of HR Business Partnering and Employee Relations on the continued development and delivery of the wider People and Culture plan and share responsibility with Learning & Organisational Development colleagues to create, deliver and evaluate training for our people.

Situated within the Strategy Enablement directorate, the HR Delivery department is on its way to becoming a centre of excellence, with the HR Business Partner role playing a significant part in this. We are happy to discuss flexible working and what we can do to support your development as an HR professional.

About Shelter

A home is a fundamental human need. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle daily with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, motivated individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent. We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
