Are you enthusiastic and well organised, with lots of initiative and great administrative skills? Then join Shelter as an Operations Assistant and you could soon be playing a vital support role within our Training and Consultancy team.
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
About the Role
Shelter Training and Consultancy service runs over 600 courses and provides training for over 8,500 delegates every year. Our aim is to improve the quality of frontline services by providing professionals with the knowledge, skills and capability they require to support those whose housing rights are denied or at risk.
Right now, we're looking for someone like you to administer our training services. That involves booking and liaising with trainers, organising pre-course documentation and maintaining records of events and attendees. You will also deal with financial arrangements, including invoices and client contracts, and collate and process course evaluation forms. Put simply, you’ll be responsible for seeing that our activities run smoothly and that customers are happy with the service they receive.
Commercially aware, with lots of creativity and initiative, you have a proactive, collaborative and results-driven approach. You’re also great at building relationships with a diverse range of people and keen to contribute new ideas when appropriate. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and the internet is also essential, as is a proven background in administrative work.
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
