A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

As part of Enhanced Through the Gate we have been contracted to deliver accommodation and finance, benefit and debt advice in custody.  The Community Integration Service, delivers a holistic package of support relating to housing, finance, benefit and debt advice to those on license or community orders. This service will consist of a team based in prison and community locations across the contract package area, delivering advice and interventions. This process will involve close working with CRC and NPS Responsible Officers and a wealth of other agencies and will contribute to an effective and efficient support planning process for each service user.

About the role
You’ll be based in Preston but have overall management responsibility for both the Enhanced Through the Gate and the Community Integration Service across Lancashire. Day-to-day, you’ll lead and manage Offender services to ensure we deliver good customer care and effective outcomes for clients. You’ll also work closely with the Sodexo Contracts Manager to meet contractual requirements, as well as with Business Development to develop effective external and internal partnerships. Taking accountability for the management of staff within the service, managing and planning the service budget and reporting on variances to income and expenditure will be important too. And, when it comes to contributing to the strategic development of Shelter services by identifying and acting on local business opportunities, again, we'll count on you.

About you
Your relevant experience will need to include a proven ability to lead a team and ensure high standards are met, as well as manage a service budget and provide accurate variance reporting. You’ll also need to be great at building relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders. Commercially aware, client-focused and collaborative in approach, you have lots of initiative, think ahead and take prompt action to solve problems, complete task and overcome obstacles like challenging situations. Proficiency using case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc. is also required, as is the ability to type.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
