Do you have proven experience of soliciting five and six figure donations from high net worth individuals or working with high net worth clients in a private sector role, plus a real desire to play your part in fighting one of the country’s biggest social issues? Then join Shelter Scotland as a Senior Philanthropy Manager and you could soon be making the most of your skills at the heart of our High Value Partnerships Philanthropy team.

About Shelter Scotland
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet thousands of people across Scotland struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter Scotland we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

About the team
Crucial to achieving our charitable mission, High Value Partnerships raises over £20 million a year through relationships with high-net-worth individuals, legacy pledgers, trusts, the Big Lottery Fund and major businesses. Sitting at the heart of the team is an events programme that acts as a platform for cultivation and stewardship of high value relationships. The Philanthropy team develop relationships with high level individual donors and are responsible for securing major gifts with a focus on five, six and seven figure gifts. We also have ambitious plans to significantly grow income to over £3 million a year and are looking for a proactive individual to play a pivotal role in our fundraising success in Scotland.

About the role
Our philanthropy programme in Scotland has developed significantly over the last three years, and there’s now a solid foundation to build on quickly. As the sole major donor fundraiser in Scotland, you’ll need to split your time between managing a warm portfolio of donors, building a pipeline of new relationships and engagement products to  secure future growth and providing inspiring, supportive line management to a Philanthropy Executive. All the while, you’ll be supported by an experienced and energetic fundraising team and colleagues in front line services, campaigns and finance. There will also be opportunities to meet with your service delivery and advocacy colleagues to learn more about our work, so that you feel immersed and able to inspire donors to give.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you
A great opportunity to make a significant impact for the leading housing and homelessness organisation in the UK, you’ll also be able to help us take philanthropy fundraising to new heights in Scotland. To succeed, you’ll need a proven relevant background, a proactive and enterprising nature and a truly engaging approach. An understanding of donors’/potential donors’ philanthropic goals is essential too, as is the ability to manage and influence internal stakeholders. In addition to excellent communication and relationship-building skills and a confident approach to donor management., you’ll also need to bring lots of initiative and the collaboration skills to proactively identify opportunities and see them through to delivery.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
