We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with office administration experience to join us as an Administrator and provide the support we need to help us deliver an effective local service.

In response to growing need, we are developing our service in Lancashire by offering advice, support and guidance to people in housing need on issues such as housing, debt and welfare benefits. We also offer an Information & Resource service to provide guided self-help to clients and specialist legal housing advice.

About the role
Based in Blackburn Central Library, right in the heart of the community, you will provide a variety of administration support such as file maintenance, photocopying, typing and scanning, answering the telephone, dealing with queries, handling the mail etc. You’ll also have responsibility for designing and developing office systems and processes, booking staff travel and accommodation, organising user involvement events and lots more besides. Helping front line staff with case administration, assisting the Service Manager with ad hoc projects and seeing that our office equipment is properly maintained – all are aspects of this interesting, varied and vital role.

About you
With office administrative experience in a customer-facing environment, you’ll have experience of using a wide range of systems and, in particular, demonstrable experience of finance systems. You’ll also need good typing skills and be able to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, email and the internet. A proactive and collaborative approach is important too, as is the ability to apply creative thinking and introduce new ideas and processes. And, when it comes to communicating with people at all levels and building great working relationships, again, you have what it takes.
