Job description

Day Concierge -Westminster Mental Health Accommodation

No. of Vacancies- 2

Hours- Flexible - to be discussed upon appointment

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in SHP's Westminster Accommodation services. SHP has been running mental health services in Westminster since we first started, back in the 1970's. Throughout our time here, we have built an outstanding reputation for innovative and inclusive ways of working. We are now able to increase our impact with three new services that form our mental health accommodation.

The service offers a range of innovative and psychologically informed approaches to working with people who are or have experienced complex emotional distress and/or trauma. These services have recently transferred to SHP and we are looking for two day concierges to support and develop the innovative and creative work taking place across all sites.  This is a great chance to join a diverse staff team and gain experience working within a mental health service.

We are looking for compassionate, energetic and friendly people to join our diverse team as a day concierge.  You do not need to have any previous or formal experience working in an accommodation based service or within the mental health field.  There will be ample opportunity to learn on the job both through formal training, reflective practices and from experienced colleagues.  A comprehensive induction will also be provided before formally starting in the role and the team manager is always on hand for support

As day concierge you will work closely with the team manager and team to ensure the smooth day to day running of the service.  Key to this is an aptitude for organisation and delegation.  You will also help to meet the practical and emotional needs of residents by being the first point of contact when anything is needed and responding/delegating as needed.  Paramount to this is a friendly and welcoming attitude to everyone accessing the service so that all are listened to and valued.

If you think this is something you could do and would be interested in doing, we would love to hear from you! So please complete an application.

Working hours for this role are flexible and can be discussed at the point of successful appointment.  The day concierge role is Monday - Sunday, therefore the successful candidates will work alternate weekends.

Closing date: 27th August 2019 (at midnight)

Interview date: 4th September 2019

This post will require an Enhanced DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant.

Our attractive benefits package includes:.

·         A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services

·         25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 28 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),

·         A contributory pension scheme: SHP will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary

·         Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work

SHP is actively committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, in all of our services and workplaces.  We are also Disability Confident Committed, a Stonewall Diversity Champion and IIP accredited.  In the London Homelessness Awards 2019 one of our Projects has been commended for their work. To read about it click here
