The Hammersmith and Fulham service comprises of one high support hostel and two medium support hostels, housing 24 people experiencing mental ill health who may also have other complex support needs including substance use and offending behaviour or who may present with behaviours which can challenge.

About the role:

The primary role of the project is to enable clients to understand their emotional and mental health needs and manage these effectively. The Project Worker will also support clients to develop their living skills, develop & manage relationships, build social networks and access education, training or employment, by completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments with clients and identifying short-term objectives.

The projects provide support 24 hours a day and are staffed by a Night Concierge and Project Workers, this requires regular weekend working. All work undertaken will be in line with planned support. Staff are responsible for making sure that clients are actively involved in the process and that the support offered is full and holistic.

About you:

• Demonstrable experience of working with people experiencing mental health problems and other complex needs.
• A demonstrable understanding of Mental Health Legislation and how it can be applied.
• A good understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments related to this.
• A working knowledge of Housing Management as applied to a residential setting, and an understanding of the rights and responsibilities associated with various forms of tenure including excluded licenses.
• A demonstrable understanding of the Recovery Model, and the ability to engage and motivate people to move towards independence and inclusion.
• A proven ability to work in partnership with external stakeholders, particularly community mental health services and/or substance use services.
• A proven ability to create and deliver SMART action plans with clients through high quality risk and needs assessment.
• A level of numeracy sufficient to carry out tasks such as budgeting with clients, calculating benefit entitlements and monitoring rent payment.

The Role

The purpose of the Roma Outreach Worker role is to deliver an effective service to single people who are currently rough sleeping. This post will actively support Roma clients, providing a continued and consistent point of contact whilst assisting them in navigating the various change pathways available to them.

The Role 

 This Casework Coordinator role is based within the Services Directorate.  In part, this directorate focuses its support on refugees who have been recognised as having protection needs and have been granted permission to stay in the UK but are now struggling to rebuild their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Many need advice and guidance in areas such as housing, health, welfare support, education/training and employment.

The Refugee Council’s Private Renting Scheme is based in London and has been delivering specialised support to new refugees wanting to access private rented accommodation in London since 2012. Working with private landlords and other housing providers our Private Renting Scheme creates tenancy opportunities for new refugees and provides support and advice to ensure tenancies are suitable and sustainable.

The postholder will work with private landlords and other housing providers to secure tenancies for clients. The postholder will also provide casework support to clients, ensuring they are ready to secure and sustain a tenancy. This will involve providing casework support dealing with the key issues of housing and welfare benefits.

 The Casework Coordinator will work closely with others to ensure we effectively manage and support our caseload of clients and run an effective advice service. This role will take responsibility for the progression of its own caseload with the support of volunteers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Advice and Advocacy Work 

• To provide face to face advice and support to adult refugees in a sensitive, confidential and professional manner which fully understands the needs of the individual.
• To create links and work effectively with private landlords and other housing providers (such as housing associations, housing cooperatives, low needs housing providers) to create accessible, suitable and sustainable tenancy options for clients.

Equalities and Diversity 

• To provide services with due regard for equalities and for meeting the needs of all potential and actual service users. Ensuring advice services are delivered in ways which are fully accessible and in a language that they can understand. 
•  To ensure volunteers act as advocates for new refugees, ensuring these are taken into account by other agencies. 

General 

• To recruit, manage, supervise and train volunteers who provide invaluable support in the day-to-day delivery of the service.
• To participate in Refugee Council working groups, management meetings and special projects as the need arise

Complex Needs Worker: Women Experiencing Homelessness

Our client, a leading homelessness charity based in London, are looking for a Complex Needs Worker to work in a complex needs service for women experiencing homelessness in south London. Due to a rise in female rough sleepers, and the need to safeguard the most vulnerable in society, a new female only rough sleeper service has been commissioned to provide support and ongoing casework to vulnerable women engaged at the service with the aim of rehousing clients into more independent accommodation. Clients will be referred to the service via homeless assessments services, street outreach teams and other referral pathways.

Candidates for this role will need:

• Experience of working with the homeless and ideally complex needs women and the challenges the specific client group face
• Experience of working in a homeless assessment capacity
• Resettlement experience and knowledge of housing options
• DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months or registered to the online update service

• Offering advice and guidance on housing and resettlement related issues to clients

You will assess families’ needs and plan actions with parents’ participation as per their needs. You will encourage parent carers’ empowerment and involvement in the project.

The service supports up to 18 female rough sleepers referred to service by local authorities, street outreach services and StreetLink.

We are seeking to appoint a Mental Health Advice Worker for our busy and established service in Brighton and Hove. The role plays an essential part of our response to those people contacting us with their mental health enquiries and concerns.

You will responsible for offering a range of face to face and telephone mental health advice and information to people living in the city, including carers and family members who have contacted us with a mental health concern. The service also delivers awareness raising wellbeing workshops and community outreach as part of its delivery.

The role involves supporting people to identify strategies for looking after their own mental health wellbeing along with providing self-help information and resources.

You will require excellent communication skills, a track record of undertaking advice work and experience of successfully engaging and working with people with lived mental health experience. A commitment and understanding of the recovery model is essential.

As a Regional Operations Manager you will line manage the Centre Leaders in your region to ensure that centres are working effectively, that the high quality of programme delivery to young people is maintained across the cluster, and that targets are monitored and met. And of course, you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people and helping them achieve their ambitions

Contract

Full-time, fixed term until April 2025

Mon and Thurs: 09:30-18:00 Tues, Weds, Fri: 09:00-17:30
Opportunity to work from home one day a week

Salary

£38,000 per annum (with pay review increase for 2024/2025 academic year)

Location

At one of IntoUniversity’s four current centres in the South West England cluster (Bristol East, Bristol South, Weston-super-Mare or Oxford) Regular travel to centres in the region required.

Annual leave

33 days (inc bank & public holidays) + additional 2 closure days in December and 1 in July + additional length of service entitlement (one day per year of service, up to 5 days)
