Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community projects to tackle poverty and isolation, and empower and support children, young people and their families, older people, women and refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We also incubate and support local charities and social businesses to thrive, so together we can meet the diverse needs of the local communities of Wandsworth. Each week we work with 28+ charities supporting more than 1,000 people.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

Bladder Health UK (BHUK) is a small national charity that has developed significantly over the last 10 years. We are now looking for a part-time charity manager who can continue this journey. You will also be expected to be able to provide and present regular reports to the Trustees on the finance and operational activity of the charity.

To succeed in this post, it is essential that you have:

• Have been involved in charity campaign work previously.
• Have experience in charity operations and governance. 
• Have sales /marketing/fundraising experience.
• Be able to multi-task in a busy environment.
• Can demonstrate effective communication skills with ability to liaise with different audiences and be effective at developing long-lasting relationships.

Alongside the Service Manager, ensure that all staff receive appropriate supervision, appraisals and are actively and positively encouraged to maximise their skills and qualities.

Provide opportunities for staff training and development.

Assist the Service Manager with absence management, monitoring staff performance and handling any disciplinary issues including investigations.

Ensure that the centre is well-led and provide strong leadership by enabling, inspiring and motivating staff and residents to generate a culture of creativity and ideas which help shape the future and find new and better ways of working.

Be accountable for the monitoring, assessment and reporting of the quality and outcomes of the services provided.

Work alongside the Service Manager to ensure all services are delivered within budget.

Ensure all incidents, accidents and complaints are recorded in accordance with policies and procedures.

Fundraising

To work effectively with the fundraising team, helping to ensure that they have the information needed to complete effective applications, proposals and reports.

Help facilitate visits of funders to demonstrate the impact of Amber’s work.

To assist the Fundraising Manager in the collection of positive case studies, photographs and news to compliment Amber’s communications work.

Financial

To follow all financial policies and procedures as required and in the absence of the Service Manager.

To assist the Service Manager in ensuring compliance with the centre budget, ensure effective budgeting and budgeting controls are in place.

To support the Service Manager in completing and contribute to the annual budget.

In the absence of the Service Manager, take responsibility for resident related income including housing benefit and resident’s service charge.

Experience

Relevant professional or management qualification

Experience in management, preferably in the social care sector.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

As well as ensuring the quality of service and support provided to people who use our services, you will line manage front line staff and organise any building maintenance requirements. Whether you’re carrying out an induction, undertaking an investigation, putting team development plans in place or providing support to our business development team, one thing’s for sure – you won't be short of challenge and variety. We’re currently working towards being awarded ‘Outstanding’ at our next CQC inspection and you will play an integral part in helping us to achieve this.

Substantial experience gained managing a caseload of individuals with complex needs is a given, as well as being outcome driven and able to lead by example using your firm but inclusive management style. You’re open and encouraging too and have lots of tact and diplomacy. What's more, you're great at managing conflicting priorities on time, have a flexible attitude to working hours and are willing to participate in on call arrangements. And, if you have experience of carrying out investigations, writing reports/recommendations or managing budgets, even better, although it's not essential as we offer an extensive induction and training programme for managers.

The service operates two sleep-ins per night (paid at £70.47 per 9-hour sleep-in) and an on-call rota (paid at £18.00) to cover a sleep-in/day shift in the event of absence – applicants should be flexible and available to cover sleep-ins and fill in on the on-call rota where needed.

This is a permanent full time role requiring the post holder to work 37.5 hours per week.

SHP Westminster Floating Support Service is funded by Westminster Borough to provide holistic, dynamic support to residents of Westminster. The aim of the service is to assist vulnerable residents to sustain their accommodation and access appropriate services to enable them to maintain independence and lead fulfilling lives.      

About the role:

As the Floating Support Team Manager, you will join an experienced management team to help ensure the delivery of effective and person-centred support services.

You will support the management team to ensure the service is running effectively and the team feel well supported and empowered to undertake their roles. You will monitor quality and the effectiveness of the support services by conducting regular supervisions and supporting with the data collection for reporting purposes.

You will also develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Clients, Community Mental Health Teams, Housing, Adult Social Care with the aim of promoting collaboration.

THE ROLE – SERVICE LEAD

You will be responsible for the ongoing day to day leadership and management of the Employment Advisors (EAs) and Senior Employment Advisors (SEAs) in Talking Therapies service across Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow.

You will liaise with managers, clinicians and GPs across the NHS primary care pathways to ensure that services are coordinated and pathways into, and out of, the service are managed effectively and efficiently.

You will ensure the service operates in line with national guidance related to Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies and gives consideration to wider disability employment and retention support models, whilst striving to achieve and maintain national best practice in this field.

You will ensure the team develops in a manner that facilitates clients being referred to the service quickly, so they do not remain unsupported whilst on sick leave, and then support them to return to work swiftly (where appropriate), or to follow the destination that is best suited to their circumstances, enabling individuals to achieve positive service experience outcomes.

You will work in partnership with key stakeholders and contract managers.

This role will require someone experienced in leading the delivery of a mental health support programme, whilst managing and meeting commissioner performance expectations.

SERVICE LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. To develop and manage the Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies Service, providing high quality, timely assessment and support interventions, including signposting for specialist external advice such as ACAS, welfare benefits advice, union or specialist employment law advice.

2. To have specialist knowledge and understanding of employment support and retention to be able to promote an early intervention model, which predominately focusing on supporting people into their preferred job choice, supporting them to remain in work, or enabling them to gain early access to advice and support to reduce the risk of not starting or losing their employment.

3. To manage the performance activity, data quality and service delivery of the team and ensure they provide an integrated and effective service.

4. To ensure the staff have an understanding of the process and philosophy of the positive benefits that work can have on an individual’s health, as well as understanding the benefit of early intervention and support for those at risk of losing their employment due to poor mental health, disabilities, health conditions or issues at work.

5. To oversee the development of new initiatives within the Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies Service in line with national best practice and planning capacity for the team to meet the anticipated increases in demand for the service as a result of changes in the economy or incidence of poor mental health.

6. Ensure the service works within national and locally agreed frameworks and develop key performance indicators if none exist.

7. To ensure that the team has appropriate arrangements in place to guarantee that efficient, effective, equitable and economical services are provided to all clients.

8. To respond to complaints and suggestions from clients and carers in accordance with policies and procedures, and to participate as appropriate in the investigation of complaints, grievances, significant events and disciplinary manners in accordance with polices and present the outcome of the investigations to the relevant personnel.

9. To lead the team in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.

10. To monitor the workload and performance of team members using electronic systems to monitor performance.

11. Provide reports to senior managers and stakeholders regarding activity and exception reports for information.

12. To provide regular line management supervision to members of the team.

13. Ensure all team staff receive annual Appraisals and have personal development plans in place.

14. To participate in own Appraisal to ensure development and planning.

15. To agree and monitor explicit performance targets with staff relevant to service delivery.

16. To monitor staff sickness and absence and offer appropriate counselling or appropriate actions.

20. To attend regular management and planning meetings, workshops and conferences relating to health issues and employment, as appropriate.

21. To remain well informed about the national agenda for Employment and Retention, health and social care, and the economic picture.

22. To keep abreast with current best practice in the field and continue to foster a network of specialist support for those who are employed but need support.

23. To make presentations, where appropriate, to staff, clinical colleagues or management groups regarding current national or local issues.

24. To implement and support any performance management systems agreed by senior managers. To regularly monitor and audit systems and records to ensure compliance with procedures and standards.

25. To take note of and, where appropriate, act upon any external audits or reviews that are of relevance to the team.

26. To take responsibility for the efficient use of resources within the team.

27. Provide the team with specialist advice for more complex cases as required.

28. To undertake any other duties of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of this post and as required by your manager.

The role holder must also:

1. Pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level.

2. Possess excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software, as well as experience updating and maintaining databases.

3. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service performance requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure:

• Effective outreach for recruitment onto our programmes
• That women’s programmes run smoothly and that their participants are motivated and supported to complete them through to graduation
• That those women who require 1-1 time with you are provided with this to ensure their safety and to make any referrals to external agencies where required
• All those we work with for the benefit of women on the programmes are engaged eg. short work placement hosts, mentors and venues for activities

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Timetabling online and face-to-face outreach to ensure women are recruited onto programmes in a timely way
• Being the key safeguarding lead at Friday workshops and ensuring that you make 1-1 time for any women who require it (alerting the Head of Operations and People and the CEO and wider team any issues or concerns that need addressing)
• Liaising with the Programmes Coordinator on the timely production of workshop materials and any other course content useful for participants
• Maintaining excellent relationships with workshop providers
• Ensuring that the Programmes Coordinator is across needs for any 1-1 therapy referrals between women and our float of freelance therapists
• Conducting evaluation surveys with women at the start, end and 6 months after they graduate and ensuring all evaluation data is provided to the freelancer responsible for collating the impact of our programmes annually in a final report, as well as providing any data required by the CEO for grant reports
• Signing off on mentor-mentee matches with the Partnerships Manager who recruits mentors
• Working closely with the Partnerships Manager to ensure they are across which kinds of short expenses/ paid work placements with employers women want to access

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be someone who is naturally warm/ a people person, compassionate and enabling, and who also has fantastic project management/ organisational skills. You may come from a senior youth worker background or other front line organisations working with young vulnerable adults.

Essential:

• Substantial senior experience working with young, including vulnerable, adults
• Proven track record of project/ programme management experience to deliver successful learning/ educational events/ activities for young people
• Creative thinker with experience of conducting successful outreach for young people
• Experience of safeguarding with vulnerable individuals
• Exceptional people and relationship-building skills with those from a range of different backgrounds eg ranging from young women for our programmes to employers and other stakeholders who engage with our work and participants 
• Excellent written and verbal communication 
• Highly organised multi-tasker, with a personality that works calmly under pressure and with own initiative
• Proof of strategic programme leadership

Job Purpose 
This exciting role will work with the Crisis Service Development Manager to oversee the operations of the crisis services and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
