Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community projects to tackle poverty and isolation, and empower and support children, young people and their families, older people, women and refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We also incubate and support local charities and social businesses to thrive, so together we can meet the diverse needs of the local communities of Wandsworth. Each week we work with 28+ charities supporting more than 1,000 people.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

About the role  

Smart Works are looking to appoint an exceptional Finance Manager to join our finance team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing finance team of four, the Finance Manager will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health of Smart Works Charity and its network of eleven centres across the UK. 

The Finance Manager will ensure financial systems and processes are followed, financial tasks are completed before deadlines and key stakeholders receive the financial information they need to make sound decisions.

Duties and responsibilities

• Comply with all financial systems and control processes for Smart Works.

• Produce monthly income and expenditure reports, balance sheets, management accounts and the production of financial board papers for Smart Works Charity and each local centre.

Personal Specification 

Essential Criteria

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA part qualified (or equivalent, e.g. AAT qualified).
• A strong accounting background, with significant experience working within a finance function. 
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to produce quality accounts and accurate financial work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Good analytical skills and professional sceptical mindset.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general

In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. In 2021, Upbeat Clean was started in response to significant challenges that refugee women have in finding employment to support their families. The two social enterprises (DLS and Upbeat Clean) have grown substantially over the last two years with a combined expected turnover of around £700,000 in 2024/25 and more rapid growth ahead. We have over 30 employed cleaners and 20 freelance teachers and interpreters, with over 40 corporate contracts and 100 private clients.

Main duties and responsibilities

Strategy, Analysis & Development:

ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the complexity andholistic nature of Black Rootz and will be committed to its values. As a small team, the Project Manager will be as comfortable making plans and big decisions as they are rolling their sleeves up and being hands on to support the team. While this is a fixed-term contract, we expect the role to be extended and grow over time.

These posts involve taking an active role in providing compassionate and consistent care to beneficiaries; taking part in prayer times; providing personal testimony of your experience of Jesus’ love, with both beneficiaries and members of the local community; and you may, from time to time, be asked to assist in supporting presentations in representing the Trust, predominantly to Christian church groups.

The Central Service Coordinator will ensure Gaddum delivers its organisational objectives by coordinating efficient and effective Human Resources, People and Central workstreams.  

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of Finance and working as part of a small but high performing team: They will be a key reference point for the organisation’s leaders to ensure those they manage have the best possible opportunities to thrive during the course of their employment at Gaddum. 

The postholder will be responsible for overseeing central systems and processes relating to organisation-wide People Services as required by the Senior Leadership Team and Trustee Board.

As Assistant Housing Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of operational efficiency across the Company's six residential sites and services for 206 residents, including leasehold. Your role will be to provide excellent customer service to residents and work to ensure that each site is safe, secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.

You will also support the development and implementation of new systems and processes and provide guidance on Housing policies and procedures. You will work closely with the finance team to manage rental income and invoice payment and will deputise in the absence of the Housing Manager.
