Job description

Touchstone (registered charity No. 1012053) is a leading voluntary sector agency providing high quality services to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

Liaison and Diversion Peer Support Worker
Salary: starting at £19,554 pa (NJC Scale Points 7 - 11)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Job share will be considered)
This role is fixed term for 12 months
Location: West Yorkshire – Primarily Leeds & Kirklees

You will complement the work of the Wakefield Liaison and Diversion service, providing practical and emotional support to service users who have come into contact with the criminal justice system, with support needs around mental health, learning disability and/or substance use.

You will work with a caseload of service users, in the community and at court, recording all interactions with service users in line with Liaison and Diversion procedure and liaising with Project Workers around their support. 

You will need to have lived experience of offending and one of the vulnerabilities listed above, as well as accessing support services. You will have experience of giving and/or receiving peer support and will be able to demonstrate how you manage your recovery and what you are currently doing with your time to being able to step up into full time employment.

Candidates must be abstinent from all illicit substances, and in active recovery for at least six months, with at least two professional/character checkable references.

Candidates must be free from offending for at least 12 months and must be at least 6 months free from a custodial sentence.

The successful candidates will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to positively engage with a wide range of service users, colleagues, and other professionals.

These are developmental positions and successful candidates must be willing to take part in a full induction programme and ongoing training. Peer Support workers will receive a robust package of support and supervision to enable them to manage their workload and promote their wellbeing.

There will be an Open Day on Monday 23rd September, 10am – 4pm at Touchstone House, 2-4 Middleton Crescent, Leeds.
