Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. The Role
This Casework Coordinator role is based within the Services Directorate. In part, this directorate focuses its support on refugees who have been recognised as having protection needs and have been granted permission to stay in the UK but are now struggling to rebuild their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Many need advice and guidance in areas such as housing, health, welfare support, education/training and employment.
The Refugee Council’s Private Renting Scheme is based in London and has been delivering specialised support to new refugees wanting to access private rented accommodation in London since 2012. Working with private landlords and other housing providers our Private Renting Scheme creates tenancy opportunities for new refugees and provides support and advice to ensure tenancies are suitable and sustainable.
The postholder will work with private landlords and other housing providers to secure tenancies for clients. The postholder will also provide casework support to clients, ensuring they are ready to secure and sustain a tenancy. This will involve providing casework support dealing with the key issues of housing and welfare benefits.
The Casework Coordinator will work closely with others to ensure we effectively manage and support our caseload of clients and run an effective advice service. This role will take responsibility for the progression of its own caseload with the support of volunteers.

Our client, a leading homelessness charity based in London, are looking for a Complex Needs Worker to work in a complex needs service for women experiencing homelessness in south London. Due to a rise in female rough sleepers, and the need to safeguard the most vulnerable in society, a new female only rough sleeper service has been commissioned to provide support and ongoing casework to vulnerable women engaged at the service with the aim of rehousing clients into more independent accommodation. Key tasks:
- Develop and deliver a new RSPB Nature Prescriptions project to people living in diverse communities within the West Midlands
- Deliver presentations to a wide range of potential stakeholders with the aim of obtaining engagement with the project
- Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to identify ways of ensuring Nature Prescriptions reach a large diversity of people
- Co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals
- Facilitate nature connection workshops to improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of people who will be delivering Nature Prescriptions
- Develop a project plan for the delivery of Nature Prescriptions and follow project management principles to ensure a successful delivery of agreed outcomes
- Tap into local environmental networks to build a picture of nature based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working
- Explore and contribute to the evaluation of the project, including data gathering and collecting case studies from project partners
- Represent the RSPB on relevant local health and wellbeing networks
- Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working within the West Midlands and beyond
- Further develop our Nature and Wellbeing Sharepoint site to provide people across the RSPB access to our latest materials
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Skilled in delivering nature connection workshops or training
- Experience of working within the health and wellbeing sector
- Experience of developing and delivering projects with diverse communities
- Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders
- An excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate RSPB messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support

- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload
- Skilled in using Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams
