About the Service
Bexley SASS offers support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in the London borough of Bexley. The service provides 1-2-1 advocacy and support for survivors at risk as well as a range of groups; the service also offers support groups and works in partnership with a number of statutory and voluntary agencies.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic Specialist Advocate to join SASS team as part of an exciting new project.
As the Specialist Advocate you will work with women experiencing VAWG who have additional support needs and require more intensive support. These needs may include but are not limited to, mental health issues, substance use, offending, engaging in prostitution or homelessness. You will hold a caseload of survivors, using an assertive outreach approach to attempt to engage them in ongoing support. Support provided will be holistic and trauma-informed, working in partnership with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies will the aim of reducing risk and improving outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with women who have experienced VAWG and people who have experienced multiple disadvantage. You will be adept at building trust and relationships with women who may initially find it difficult to engage with your support.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between domestic abuse and multiple/complex needs, a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support, and an ability to reflect on your own practice.
