Senior Climate Adaptation Officer
Salary: £24,000 per annum
Contract type: 37.5 hour per week, fixed-term contract ending in March 2023
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Climate Adaptation Officer to join our climate adaptation project - Adapting the Levels, based in the Somerset Levels and Moors.
Adapting the Levels is a partnership project, drawing on the expertise of several organisations. The Climate Adaptation Officer will provide input from SWT and lead on work to develop adaptation pathways, focusing on Nature-based Solutions.
Adapting the Levels is also part of the international Co-Adapt project, so you will share knowledge and experience with partners from 4 countries, developing best practices and embedding the approach in outside organisations and decision-making processes.
We are looking for someone dynamic, dedicated and passionate about making a difference, with a strong background in climate science and experience of working with a variety of communities and partners.
As a Senior Climate Adaptation Officer your role will be to raise awareness of the need for climate adaption and increase understanding of the benefits Nature-Based Solutions can offer.
You will work across the Somerset Levels and Moors with key communities, farmers/landowners and NGO’s, and play a key role in developing climate adaptation pathways. The Pathways cover a variety of issues such as surface water flood, river flooding and drought and are built using a co-creation approach that recognises the knowledge and experience of all those involved.
