Job description

Finance skills…social sector experience…want to help socially-focused organisations create and demonstrate real impact ?  Maybe you should be part of the Sonnet team…

We are looking for an Executive with financial skills and a genuine and demonstrable desire to help clients achieve positive change.

• Full Time

• Fixed term (12 months with potential for renewal)

Who we are

Sonnet Advisory & Impact CIC is a specialist consulting team, working with charities, social enterprises and other socially-minded organisations.  We are experts in helping clients understand, measure and manage the impact they have on their customers and the world around them.  We do this ‘end to end’ – from developing impact ambition and strategy to facilitating mergers, acquisitions and disposals that create the right structure to deliver impact, and then measuring that impact and learning from it.  We regularly work with clients who are grappling with some of the most complex issues in society today, such as domestic violence, homelessness, social housing, complex social care and so-called troubled families. We are a multi-disciplinary team peopled by experts from all kinds of backgrounds: who’ve worked in financial and economic advisory, social research, corporate finance, enterprise and social enterprise, and strategic management and development.

Our mission in our day-to-day work is to help organisations achieve the impact they desire and contribute towards a thriving society through their successes. We seek to help them to achieve policy and practice change that will bring wider societal and environmental benefit as well as enhancing their own delivery.

Part-owned by Sheffield Hallam University, we commit 65% of our company profits to grant-funding innovation in areas of huge social need.

Who we are looking for

You have a financial qualification such as ACA, CIMA or CIPFA, and have experience of working with charities and/or social enterprises in roles that involved analysis of and reporting on financial information. You may have gained that experience working within professional practice or in-house at a charity or social enterprise. You might have had some experience of working with organisations through transactions such as acquisitions or mergers, but you are certainly keen to support organisations seeking to grow and deliver strategic changes such as these. You enjoy finding out more about how different organisations and sectors work, the issues they face, their operational models and the ways in which they improve life for service users and society as a whole. You’d like to broaden your skills into impact measurement, ESG reporting, and impact-based business design and planning.  Having obtained at least two years’ experience post-qualification, or equivalent, you are now seeking the next move to develop your career.

Location Under current conditions we are all working from home, connecting regularly by video conferencing apps, phone and email. Our office is located in Vauxhall, a few minutes' walk from Vauxhall tube station. We operate a hotdesking working style, with most team members working at least one day per week from home.

We have no fixed views on your career path to date.  What matters more to us is the skills, experience and values you bring to the team.  If you think this might be the job for you, we'd want to hear from you.

Closing date for receipt of applications; Midday on Wednesday 30th September 2020
