Job Description

It’s an exciting time to join the Sophie Hayes Foundation for this unique leadership opportunity.  Set up in 2011 by Sophie, a British girl who was trafficked abroad, the charity works to empower survivors of trafficking to build hope-filled futures.  We work specifically in awareness, research and survivor support, with our main focus since 2016 being the delivery and expansion of our Day 46 Programme, which is a blended learning intervention designed specifically for survivors of trafficking, supporting them into education, training or work.  We have supported over 100 women in the last 2 years and we hope to reach many more survivors.  We are at a pivotal and challenging stage of growth: expanding outside London, significantly increasing staff and volunteer numbers, developing our governance, processes and systems, and maturing our culture from ‘successful start-up’ to ‘effectiveness at scale’.  We are looking for a committed, people-oriented and passionate leader to build on the outstanding work of our current CEO as she changes focus to support the launch of our new Birmingham centre and to found a socially purposeful business (HOLOS London) which will employ survivors of trafficking and donate 10% profits to Sophie Hayes Foundation. 

We are looking for a person who can demonstrate effective experience in leading charities, or other charitable services, of comparable scale, and who is competent and experienced in people leadership, line management, fundraising and budgeting, charitable operations management, governance and strategy development.  You will be exceptional at building and maintaining relationships with partners and stakeholders, and able to inspire others to join our movement.  You will care deeply about fighting slavery and making a difference for those unfortunate to have experienced it; you will always put their needs first.  You will understand the importance of robust policies, processes, systems and governance as the foundation of sustainable charity management.  We love our values and our inclusive culture, so the successful candidate will embrace and promote different people, backgrounds, skills and points of view.
