We are seeking a Fundraising and Communications Director who as part of the Senior Leadership Team will lead the Fundraising and Communications team to inspire UK Christians, churches, and Trusts to sustainably support CMS through giving and prayer. In this high-profile role, your leadership will motivate, empower, and enable the team to acquire new supporters to the mission of CMS and significantly grow income and engagement.

To be successful in your application, you will need to demonstrate: 

• Significant proven experience in a fundraising role at a leadership level
• Leading multi-disciplinary teams, for example individual giving, trusts, major donors, communications
• Proven experience of change management
• Experience of creating, implementing, and monitoring strategy at leadership level
• Proven experience of developing and delivering on ambitious fundraising income targets

We are working in partnership with Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), who were established as an independent charity in 2014. HCT operate visitor attractions, galleries, museums, and arts centres across Hampshire, and are responsible for conserving and maintaining one of the largest and most significant regional collections of historical artefacts in the country. Their charitable purpose is to change lives through culture, both for Hampshire’s residents and for visitors to the county, placing particular emphasis on reaching individuals, groups and communities who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, breaking down barriers of access to arts and culture.

HCT are now seeking to appoint a Director of Development to lead and deliver a trust-wide strategic approach to fundraising, in alignment with organisational needs and priorities. The director will develop and lead a high performing team and will be responsible for growing income from a range of sources, including trusts and grants, individual giving and developing a philanthropy programme based on a portfolio of designated funds to support strategic projects and ongoing revenue funding. This role sits on the SLT, with shared responsibility for setting and realising the organisation’s goals, strategic priorities, and business plan.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience in fundraising, including developing and implementing successful development strategies and securing income from a wide range of sources.
• Significant experience in securing philanthropic gifts at the five and six figure level.

The Director of Operations will work as part of the management team to develop and implement the organisation’s strategy and operational plans and to build the longer term sustainability of the organisation. For more than 50 years, the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. The BDA is established as the leading dyslexia charity in the UK.

Unfortunately, the need for our support and services is high. Although awareness of dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties has grown, there are ongoing and widening gaps in access to the identification of dyslexia and the provision of expert learning support. Action for Carers works across Surrey to support unpaid carers who are caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, has a disability or poor mental health and could not cope without this support.

We provide support by phone, on-line, through face-to-face meetings, support groups, in hospitals and through workshops. We help with information and advice, advocacy, practical guidance on moving and handling, and provide access to a range of free resources. We also support young carers by putting on activities to provide time out from their caring role and meet young people in a similar position as well as tailored one-to-one help.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior leader to fulfil this newly created role. The Chief Operating Officer will play a pivotal role in operationalising our revised strategy, ensuring the effective implementation of our services, leading our front-line delivery teams, and ensuring high standards of service delivery. This role will deputise for the CEO in their absence.

We provide a Surrey wide service and whilst this role will be based at our offices in Burpham, Guildford, the postholder will work across Surrey to engage with our service users, statutory and charity partners and our people.

GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.

This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. Strategic Planning and Development

Management of Staff, Freelancers and Volunteers

• Recruiting key staff and others.
• Leading, managing and developing direct reports and supporting them in managing their key workers – staff, freelancers and volunteers.
• Ensuring that processes for the recruitment and management of volunteers are developed and maintained
• Liaising with external HR consultants to update procedure and processes appropriately and managing staffing matters arising
• Enabling a safe, stimulating and supportive workplace where teams and activities can flourish and work standards and practices are maintained.
• Taking steps to ensure that staff and freelancers attain high standards of work.
• Ensuring that staff have, or can develop, the skills and abilities they need to carry out their jobs competently, safely and effectively.

Finance & Fundraising

• Researching and writing funding bids to secure both restricted and unrestricted funds
• Exploring other possible sources of funding for programmes and core costs, including individual donors, corporate sponsorship and commercial opportunities.
• Working with the  Finance Manager, Treasurer, and external
Bookkeeper, including using Xero software, to monitor the finances of the charity to ensure that sufficient funds are attracted to run planned programmes, meet the commitments of the charity within agreed budgets, and produce regular reports.
• Maintaining adequate reserves for the charity in line with policy.
• Preparing the annual report and accounts for submission to the Charity Commission to be independently examined alongside the Chair and the Bookkeeper.

Management of the Buildings

• Overseeing relationship with Landlords and tenancy agreements
• Managing Centre Manager to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

Partnerships & Representing the organisation

• Represent Ark-T as a leader in arts for improved mental health and wellbeing, driving change, particularly diversity and inclusion through influencing and contributing to the key meetings.
• Maintaining relationships and strategic partnership agreements with OX4 Food Crew Alliance, Oxford Community Action, Donnington Doorstep, Safe! and Waste2Taste.

Communications

• Overseeing the marketing and communications for Ark-T.
• Ensuring that key stakeholders are kept informed of the progress of the charity,
including the publication of an organisational wide impact report in 2024.

Action for Deafness (AFD), based in Sussex, is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to guide the charity to new heights as Chief Executive Officer. As the CEO of AFD, you will play a pivotal role in steering this well-regarded charity to further enhance services for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals across the region.

With a dedicated team of professionals, AFD is committed to serving the needs of the Deaf and hard of hearing community in Sussex. The charity serves as a cornerstone of support and advocacy, offering essential services tailored to meet the diverse needs of its clients. These services encompass audiology provision (provided via delivery of NHS contacts, which represents the majority of funding), as well as community support, advocacy and engagement initiatives.

As the next CEO, you would be responsible for shaping the future of this organisation, further strengthening relationships with commissioners, growing and diversifying services and income streams, and ensuring the charity meets the diverse needs of the community.

Key details:

Role: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Action for Deafness

Blatchington Court Trust, based in Hove, is looking for a strategic, inspirational and experienced leader to join as our new Chief Executive Officer. As our new CEO, you will lead this well-regarded, financially secure local charity to further develop our work for children and young people with sight loss across Sussex.

With a highly committed team, Blatchington Court Trust (BCT) stands as a beacon of support and empowerment for young people under 30 with sight loss and their families across Sussex. We are a vital resource for our community, offering a diverse range of services aimed at informing, empowering, and enriching the lives of those we serve. These include educational advocacy, benefits advice, technology grants, wellbeing support, and running a wide range of events and activities.

Under the leadership of our new CEO, we are looking to develop our strategy, policies and processes, better measure our impact, and explore fundraising opportunities beyond our investment income so we can expand and develop our services.

Role: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Blatchington Court Trust

Salary: circa £65,000

Location: Hove, Sussex

Contract: permanent, full time

As well as a clear commitment to our mission and values, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in senior leadership roles within the charitable sector, demonstrating the ability to lead change, inspire, motivate, and lead teams.
• Track record of developing and implementing organisational strategy.
• Business development acumen, with a track record of growing income and identifying and bringing in new funding.
• Experience in recruiting, developing, and managing high-performing teams, with a commitment to staff development and empowerment.
• Sound understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking and negotiating skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including beneficiaries, donors, funders, and partner organisations.
• Strong understanding of impact assessment, with the ability to develop and implement effective impact assessment processes.
• Proven ability to create a positive and inclusive work environment where all staff feel valued, supported, and motivated.
• Lived experience of sight loss or a strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with sight loss would be advantageous but not essential.

• Lead, inspire and develop the team at Action Hampshire to deliver our purpose
• Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure delivery and regular review of Action Hampshire’s (‘the charity’) vision, mission and strategic plans 
• Deliver the charity’s vision and mission through appropriate plans and in accordance with agreed policies and protocols. 
• Support and advise the Board to meet its responsibilities to ensure that the charity is legally compliant, well run and meets its organisational duties and obligations
• Enhance the charity’s impact and profile locally, regionally and nationally.
