Job description

Head of Fundraising & Communications
Worthing, West Sussex (office/field-based, covering Worthing and the surrounding areas)

About Us

Established in 1991, Turning Tides is a community-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness. We empower homeless or insecurely housed individuals to achieve sustainable independent living.

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 5,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 100 staff members to date.

We believe that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We believe in showing people who need our help that they are not alone, that the wider community is there to support them and offer hope for a better future.

We’re currently looking for a Head of Fundraising & Communications to help us achieve our goals by implementing our Fundraising, Communications and Supporter Engagement strategy.

The Benefits

- FTE salary of £43,000 per annum

- Flexible working arrangements (part time working optional)
- Play an important role within a community-led organisation
- 25 days’ holiday, increasing with service

If you are a high calibre fundraising professional who can inspire people to take action, this is a superb opportunity to tackle homelessness and empower local people to get back on their feet.

Through the power of community, Turning Tides provides a place of safety, respect and trust. We work together to overcome adversity and ensure that the voices of homeless men and women are heard.

We have a number of services that are making a difference, including our community hubs, supported housing, outreach café and addition recovery support. We want to do more, and in this role, you will help us to gain the funding we need to end homelessness in the region.

The Role

As our Head of Fundraising & Communications, you will develop, inspire and lead a high-performing team and through excellent external and internal communications, ensure the charity delivers on its mission and ambitions.

This is a broad role covering strategy, fundraising, PR and communications and people development, giving you the opportunity to make a difference throughout our organisation.

You will set stretching targets with the aim to increase our net income from £115K to £370K over the next five years.

Reporting to our Chief Executive and Board of Trustees, you will:

- Develop a compelling fundraising vision and communications strategy
- Develop our digital brand, including our website and social media
- Ensure that monitoring, compliance, risk and ethical fundraising frameworks are in place

About You

To join us as our Head of Fundraising & Communications, you will need:

- Fundraising experience at a senior level
- Experience of creating and managing multiple budgets and forecasts
- A track record of leading and managing teams to achieve growth targets across multiple income streams in the fundraising charity sector
