Prospect Research Manager
We are seeking an accomplished and committed person to join us in the role of Prospect Research Manager.
Based in the University of Oxford’s Development and Alumni Engagement department, the Prospect Research Team drives the ambitious fundraising activities of the University. It does this in a number of ways, and the major focus of this role is on the team’s work in carrying out due diligence research as part of the University’s donations acceptance process.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Prospect Research and working alongside two other Prospect Research Managers in a wider team, the postholder will play a key role in overseeing our crucial work in this area. The role also offers the opportunity of line management responsibilities.

The Charity
GroceryAid has been the charity for the grocery industry since 1857. It provides free and confidential welfare support to anyone working in the grocery industry, from the first day of their employment. More than 350 of the most well-known grocery retailers and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brands support the charity, enabling us to help more than 44,000 people in the last twelve months alone. The charity raises funds through a highly respected yearly events calendar and the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in Grocery programme.
D&I in Grocery Programme
The programme is delivered and facilitated by GroceryAid, with the support of the Strategy Steering Group and three workstream steering groups, it is a programme truly created for the industry by the industry. With over 90 FMCG partners, it is the largest collaboration of FMCG brands, working towards the common goal to accelerate a truly diverse and inclusive grocery industry. In 2023 the programme provided over 12,562 learning hours across 64 D&I topics. The programme benefits its partners through:
- A 12-month cross-industry mentoring programme which provides equity and opportunity to historically underrepresented communities
- Shared learning resources within The Partner Hub including podcasts, monthly learning labs and cross industry ERG Forums
- D&I in Grocery Live! unites the industry once a year, at the largest D&I event in the grocery sector
- Tracks tangible progress annually through the new D&I in Grocery Maturity Model
- Connects partners on different topics to share and learn from each other to accelerate their journey
Main purpose of the role
As a senior member of the D&I in Grocery team, you will play an integral part in managing partners and supporting them through their D&I journey. Lead on the Mentoring workstream and manage D&I in Grocery’s first ever Maturity Model. The role suits someone with outstanding stakeholder management skills and excellent project management capabilities. The role requires the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously and be flexible in approach to changing responsibilities across workstreams due to the nature of the D&I landscape and fast spaced industry.
Main responsibilities of the role
- Ownership of partner accounts. Building top quality relationships to achieve maximum engagement and support partners with their D&I journey. Ensuring retention year on year
- Lead on the Mentoring workstream with the support of the Mentoring Steering Group
- Lead on the future development of the Maturity Model with the support of the Maturity Model Subgroup and Head of D&I
- Be an advocate of the programme, a supportive team member and champion GroceryAid values
Relationship Management
- Build relationships and manage high profile partner accounts, across three touchpoints a year to support them on their D&I journey. Discussing maturity model results, gaining insight, and ensuring partners are utilising all aspects of the programme and encouraging connections to accelerate change.
- Utilising relationships to create leads for hosting webinars, sharing content, and joining steering groups
- Support the Senior Relationship Manager to deliver three virtual Partner Session events a year
- Achieve revenue targets across retention and acquisition
Mentoring Programme
- Lead on the delivery of the Mentoring workstream and gain feedback for future improvements
- Manage the Mentoring Steering Group, working with them to deliver on the programme’s vision, deliver virtual onboarding events, in person mentee networking events and cohort graduations
- Successfully match over 220+ mentees and 220+ mentors and support candidates on their journey
- Capture the diversity of each year’s cohort and analyse the data for review and to set future key performance indicators (KPIs)
Maturity Model
- Lead on future developments of the model with the Maturity Model subgroup
- With the support of the project co-ordinator manage the model and run analytics as and when needed
- Lead on the yearly completion window cycle to ensure a high completion rate across the partnership, guidance to partners, report delivery and industry score generation
Project Management
- Responsible for end-to-end project and event delivery, on time, in scope, to budget and highlighting risks
- Ownership of project governance with steering / subgroups, through creating agendas, accurate minutes, proposals, and yearly roadmap. Succession planning for Chair and Deputy Chair rotations every two years
- Track and achieve KPI’s across the programme scorecard
- Responsible for ensuring all stakeholders internally and externally are brought on the journey
- Manage platforms and contracted suppliers to deliver to a high standard
- Drive innovation and identify new revenue streams to support the GroceryAid Welfare offer

Responsible for the planning, delivery and growth of the Individual Giving fundraising portfolio, through the management of existing activities and the development of new and innovative ideas.. Your priority will be to retain existing supporters and attract new ones.

On a daily basis you’ll be the primary contact for existing donors and the general public wishing to donate in memory of a loved one, or as a thank you for the care given. You will ensure that all potential, new and existing supporters receive exemplary supporter care and a great supporter experience.
You’ll deal with enquiries, accepting and processing donations across a range of channels, and will ensure everyone is thanked for their gift. You’ll work with colleagues and volunteers across the Hospice, proactively building strong relationships and championing the awareness and importance of this income stream.
Equally as important for this role, is the ability to plan, develop and deliver the Hospice’s Individual Giving portfolio (one-off and regular donations). Your creativity and experience will guide the tactical plans and activity that underpins it. Growth and innovation in this income stream is a key priority.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead on the growth and development of the Hospices Individual Giving portfolio, and the subsequent tactical plans and activity that underpins it.
· Day-to-day management and delivery against the Individual Giving budget, including budget planning, setting and reforecasting.
· Plan, create and deliver tailored supporter stewardship programmes for In Memory and ‘Thanks for care provided’ giving.
· Report and analyse data trends and performance year on year to help develop the portfolio and demonstrate areas of growth and risk.
· Manage the Individual Giving Executive to support on growing the portfolio and stewarding our donors.
· Lead on the transformation and delivery of the Hospice’s regular giving programme – Friends at Heart, working with the Communications Team on marketing materials and campaigns and where relevant managing external agencies.
· Be the primary point of contact for all In Memory enquiries and queries from individual supporters, and businesses such as funeral directors.
· Manage relationships with individuals who give to Heart of Kent Hospice in memory of a loved one, ensuring their ongoing positive engagement, regarding their wishes and support.
· Lead on the development and delivery of the Hospice’s Gift in Wills programme, shaping the legacy marketing and messaging both externally and across the Hospice.
· Ensure the Hospice’s fundraising database (Raisers Edge) is updated in a timely and accurate manner.
· Work closely with the Hospice’s Family Support Team and the Fundraising Events Manager to plan and deliver the Hospice’s flagship In Memory events.
· Ensure adherence to the various Codes of Conduct and legislation relevant to the role, including guidance from the Information Commissioners Office, Data Protection Regulation, and Fundraising Regulator.

It provides a community transport service for residents of the area who have transportation and/or mobility issues due to age, sickness or disability (mental or physical), poverty, or because of a lack of adequate and safe public transport services. With a fleet of minibuses specially adapted to assist people with mobility equipment or additional mobility needs, People to Places delivers high-quality services aimed at improving social inclusion and accessibility. In addition, we also provide Shopmobility services in Windsor and Maidenhead town centres, this service provides the loan of wheelchairs and mobility scooters to people with limited mobility, to help them shop and access leisure and commercial facilities within the area.

About the role
This role is responsible for managing and developing the charity’s community fundraising and trade revenues (target of £266,000 in 2024) and building significant engagement with community supporters and fundraisers. You will manage a committed team of two people in the Community and Trade team.

Key responsibilities
Community fundraising
• Design and implement a stewardship programme that converts interest into support and maximises fundraised income whilst developing lasting relationships.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Grow non-monetary donations as part of the community fundraising portfolio of events.
• Support the Head of Fundraising in designing new and developing existing community fundraising opportunities.
• Market and promote the calendar of community events to existing and potential supporters and wider to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Support the Head of Fundraising to design and develop the community events and engagement fundraising calendar to potentially include bespoke, charity place, promoted and reactive events.
• Lead on the creation and implementation of a digital community fundraising programme, focusing of mass participation, low barrier to entry activities.
• Lead on the management and innovation of our trade fundraising income.
• Lead on the development and delivery of our 50th anniversary celebrations in 2025.
Database and process management
• Work with the Head of Fundraising to ensure all recording, banking and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity (finance, data and marketing and communications) and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
• Record all community and trade income and thank community donors and supporters as per the agreed process.
• Record supporter and event/product specific information.
• Work with the Head of Fundraising to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
Wider fundraising
• Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
• Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
• Manage merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.
Working across the organisation
• Work with the Fundraising Team and wider organisation to develop an engaging and rewarding volunteering strategy across the charity.
• Manage the organisation’s close collaboration with the British Transplant Games.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Team to identify key supporters to develop and nurture, including those who might join our major giving programme.
• Work across teams to raise the profile of the charity and its fundraising activities.

ROLE SUMMARY
The Global Grants and Engagement Manager is responsible for managing the Grants Programme of ProVeg International and leading the activities and staff within the ProVeg International Grants team. You will ensure the global grantmaking of ProVeg International aligns with its mission and goals, while also engaging with key players in the global plant-based movement, and raising funds for the Grants programme and other movement-building activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grants Programme :

Team-lead for ProVeg Grants team, including direct line management of Grants Programme Manager.

Oversee quarterly grantmaking process, including reviewing and evaluating proposals, and providing recommendations aligned with ProVeg International’s grantmaking criteria.

Ensure that all grantmaking is aligned and approved by all decision makers, including CEO, funder network, and Board Members.

Oversee the team to ensure that all grants admin is fulfilled, including due diligence, and payment processing aligned with US regulations; accurately tracked grant records; queries are responded to timely, etc.

Oversee and optimise grantmaking process infrastructure, and regularly implement improvements as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, donors, and other sources aligned with ProVeg's mission.

Collaborate with internal teams to develop engagement strategies for stakeholders including donors, grantees, and supporters.

Build and nurture relationships with existing and potential donors, foundations, and funding organisations to cultivate support for ProVeg's programmes and initiatives.

Represent ProVeg at meetings, conferences, and events to promote our mission and establish strategic partnerships.

Develop and oversee strategies to engage with individuals and organisations through digital platforms, including social media, email campaigns, and virtual events.
Strategic Development:

Continue to develop the Strategy of ProVeg Grants Programme in alignment with ProVeg International’s global strategy and the wider plant-based advocacy/food system transformation movement.

Ensure alignment, communication and collaboration across ProVeg International’s wider network and global initiatives.
Monitoring and Reporting:

Track and evaluate grant programme’s performance against established goals and objectives, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

Prepare timely and accurate reports for funders, highlighting project achievements, impact, and financial accountability.

Monitor Grants Programme budgets, expenditures, and timelines to ensure effective utilisation of funds and compliance with funder requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in grantmaking and donor relations in the nonprofit sector is a must.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, international development, communications, or related field). Master's degree preferred.

Highly organised and able to translate complex ideas into tangible and actionable tasks.

Proven track record of successfully securing grants from diverse funding sources.

Strong communication skills, including exceptional writing and editing abilities.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.

Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Experience working with databases and grant management software (HubSpot).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategy for international for major gifts fundraising
- Manage and maintain a portfolio major gift donors and prospects, across PETA international entities
- Effectively steward donors and prospects
- Develop personal engagement plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications
- Solicit major financial contributions from targeted donors
- Manage a pipeline of prospects, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level
- Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated

About the Team:

- Manage the development and operations of WaterAid Canada's individual giving portfolios, including annual, monthly, and leadership donors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the annual and leadership giving stewardship.
- Plan and execute annual giving campaigns, including direct mail, digital acquisition, and third-party fundraisers.
- Development and implement strategies to enhance donor engagement, stewardship, and retention.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors through personalized communications and engagement initiatives, such as donor surveys.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the annual and leadership giving stewardship standards program to ensure that class leading donor relations standards are upheld.
- Utilize third party apps such as JustGiving, Gifts of Water, Echo age and create website content related to the annual giving campaigns.

- Work with the Data and Donor Service Administrator to identify cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship opportunities for monthly and annual fund donors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within WaterAid Canada, such as with Communications and Brand, International Programs, Finance, Advocacy and Policy, Annual Campaign lead, and Database.
- Maintain strong relationships across the WaterAid International Federation; support WaterAid International to maximize global fundraising initiatives; represent and advocate for WaterAid Canada priorities within global fundraising working groups.
- Utilize data-driven insights to adjust strategies for optimal performance
- Minimum three years of experience working in a fundraising, donor relations, or stewardship capacity, particularly in an annual giving portfolio.
