Purpose of the People & Culture Assistant role: 

To work as part of the People and Culture team to provide a professional, high quality, timely, customer focused HR recruitment/contractual administration/transactional service to key internal stakeholders, job applicants and support closely on people and culture activities especially the Learning and Development workstream.

Key duties and responsibilities of the People & Culture Assistant:

To provide high quality HR administrative support across the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle, including:

· Conducting pre-employment checks for new starters (references, DBS, Right to Work in UK)

· Recruitment administration (writing and posting adverts, shortlisting, arranging interviews) 

· Absence management

· Preparation and issue of contractual documentation (including contract variations) 

· Payroll updates 

· Maternity/Paternity administration 

· Administration of performance management and improvement systems (probation, Appraisals, PIP forms)

· Termination of employment (all categories, including writing leaver documentation and conducting Exit Interviews) 

· Upkeep of electronically stored personal records 

· Conducting regular HR Audit checks to ensure integrity of data is maintained 

· Supporting the P+C Manager on all other aspects of HR administration

What we are looking for in our People & Culture Assistant:

· Experience of working in a complex administrative role within HR

· Experience of using HR/Payroll/recruitment ATS online systems

· Good numeracy and literacy skills

· Awareness of employment legislation

· Ability to effectively organise and work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail

· Ability to work independently and a willingness to contribute to team efficiency through sharing information and supporting others

· Experience of providing informal training/coaching to colleagues in relation to administrative tasks

· Proficient in the use of software packages and Microsoft office software

My client, a fantastic national Charity now has an urgent interim requirement for a Senior HR Adviser to join their HR team for an initial 3-6 month period. Please note, this role offers fully remote working and requires a full-time, 35 hours per week commitment.

This organisation is looking to deliver a rapid review and overhaul of its HR service that currently supports approximately 300 colleagues and is looking for someone to provide additional support in the initial phases of this transition. As Senior HR Adviser you will work as part of a small HR team to provide a generalist HR service to the organisation, whilst also helping to drive the function forward by reviewing, identifying and recommending areas for future HR development and investment. • Working with the Chief Operating Officer and service leads to understand trends and opportunities across the portfolio and associated markets.
• Engage with expert colleagues from across the organisation to understand and support the development of their product ideas, evaluating these against internal and external factors including feasibility, expected value, and market demand.
• Financial and strategic modelling of new product options based on market demand, fit to Picker strategy, impact/income potential, strength of offering and ability to reach target audience.
• Work in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Service Delivery, service leads, and the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop marketing plans to support demand generation on a thematic basis, providing expert product knowledge, customer insight and new business leads.

About You

You will have:

• Demonstrable experiences in product/portfolio lifecycle management.
• Demonstrable experience of managing project timetables, including reviewing progress and amending plans to address changing requirements 
• Proven track record of successfully developing a cohesive portfolio strategy that supports brand integrity/growth, whilst growing individual business lines/products/services
• Significant experience of meeting product/service business targets. Including driving business growth with new services and/or in new markets     
• Experience of success in the development and qualification of a new business pipeline (including campaign management and follow-up)
• Demonstrable leadership skills, with the ability to lead projects through to successful completion
• High levels of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams  and Dynamics
• Highly numerate and confident in dealing with quantitative data including management and financial information 
• Ability to work collaboratively at corporate and departmental levels and, where necessary, with external suppliers and contacts 
• Excellent grasp of the English language in the business context 
• Ability to apply innovative thinking to identify how new research methodologies could be beneficial to the organisation and its clients

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Development

• Ensure that the organisation has a People and Culture Strategy that is aligned with and supportive ofthe organisation’s strategy, addresses staff feedback and reflects good practice in the sector.
• Ensure that the organisation has a suite of HR policies that facilitates the smooth running of theorganisation’s services, reflects the organisation’s values and includes anti discriminatory practices.
• Manage and monitor the implementation of these policies.
• Create an annual training and development plan which promotes business improvement, a positive culture and the professional development of our employees.
• Work closely with departmental managers’ in the role of business partner to address the strategic issues in their departments related to people and culture.
• Alongside the Chair, support and service the Union’s People and Culture Committee.
• Be responsible for the Union’s employer brand, using this to ensure that the Union can source and retain the staff necessary to deliver its services.
• Manage complex employee relations issues such as disciplinaries and grievances.
• Oversee complaints and student disciplinary processes.

Financial Management

• Prepare regular reports of KPIs for People and Culture as requested by the trustees and your line manager.
• Regularly review, update and rigorously enforce the organisation’s pay and grading policy with the input of the Head of Finance as appropriate.
• Contribute significantly to payroll processing and pension procedures.
• Oversee the processes for the student staff payroll.
• Ensure the smooth running of the HR department.

Governance

• Ensure compliance with right to work and other legislation relevant to the Union’s operations.
• Ensure that major processes within the Union are auditable and follow the Union’s formal procedures.

Staff Leadership and Development

• Drive a high performing, inclusive culture across Reading SU.
• Lead and inspire staff, providing clear direction, guidance, and support including giving and receiving feedback.
• Act as lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the Union. Ensure that our activities in this area reflect the values of the Union and the University.
• Foster a positive working environment, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, excellent customer service and a positive values led culture. 
• Identify and manager staff training and development needs, organising appropriate training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Be responsible for ensuring mechanisms are in place to collect candid staff feedback to inform future People and Culture activity.

About the role

In this role, you will offer clinical supervision to the Macmillan Support Line teams including advisers, nurses, line managers, service knowledge specialists and other groups and individuals as needed. As part of their continuing professional development, you will enable colleagues to reflect on their practice in supporting people affected by cancer while maintaining their own wellbeing.

You will be part of a team of 3 part-time clinical supervisors and will be given opportunities to feedback on recurrent themes to the organisation. You will learn about organisational wellbeing and be a key part of a team capable of working in an emotionally challenging, fast paced, live contact centre environment.

You will be running regular small group supervision sessions (approximately 3 per day) for 1hr 15’ each, managing a caseload of approximately 25 groups monthly. You will also offer individual supervision where needed.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• You must hold one of the following qualifications: Clinical Supervision Level 6 or above; accredited Counsellor or Psychotherapist (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, Health Professionals Council)
• Your experience of delivering both 1-1 and group supervision virtually will be essential
• Experience of delivering supervision to colleagues who provide a live, frontline, fast paced health related service is desirable

As the Trust and Grants Manager, you will be responsible for generating income from trusts and grants. Based within the Development Team you will look to identify funding opportunities to secure funds to ensure the Hospice successfully achieves its objectives and development plan. With experience of writing bid writing, trust applications and reporting you will have excellent attention to detail and effectively manage deadlines. We are looking for an excellent team player and communicator who is ambitious and solution focussed and has the energy and passion to drive forward our aspirations and operational goals.
