Prospect Research Manager
We are seeking an accomplished and committed person to join us in the role of Prospect Research Manager.
Based in the University of Oxford’s Development and Alumni Engagement department, the Prospect Research Team drives the ambitious fundraising activities of the University. It does this in a number of ways, and the major focus of this role is on the team’s work in carrying out due diligence research as part of the University’s donations acceptance process.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Prospect Research and working alongside two other Prospect Research Managers in a wider team, the postholder will play a key role in overseeing our crucial work in this area. The role also offers the opportunity of line management responsibilities.

The International Society for Influenza and Other Respiratory Virus Diseases (ISIRV) is an independent scientific membership-based society promoting the prevention, detection, treatment, and control of influenza and other respiratory virus diseases since 2005. ISIRV has reached an exciting stage of development and we are now looking for an experienced, qualified Finance Manager (CCAB or equivalent), to guide and support the Society through this next phase of growth. This is very much a hands-on role in a small company context, from grass roots to the executive level. Key responsibilities
Working alongside ISIRV’s Treasurer, the successful candidate will have responsibility for the Society’s strategic and operational budgeting, financial planning, monitoring and control. Community Fundraising Manager
The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser, dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.
Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Where and when do we need you?
We are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager to work within our established finance function. In this role you will be reporting directly into the Finance Director and will play a key part in driving the service improvements and compliance at an operational level. You will operate as a critical member of the organisation through the management of the finance function, effectively leading the management of day-to-day financial operations and ensuring the needs of internal and external stakeholders are met. In this role you will be involved in exciting and rewarding things like:
- Leading and developing a fantastic team - Undertaking line management responsibilities for allocated members of the finance team undertaking dedicated coaching, development, 121's and any day to day support that is required to ensure that finance colleagues are supported and developed appropriately and that we deliver an outstanding service both internally and externally.
- Advising and Consulting - Producing high quality monthly financial reporting which is accurate, timely and meets the needs of managers and directors using financial information extracted from the appropriate finance systems to assist them to manage their departments' budgets and understand budget variances.
- Data analysis and Reporting - Leading on the year-end audit and accounts closedown process through the collation and analysis of appropriate financial information and liaising with auditors to ensure agreed deadlines are met. - Managing Compliance and Risk - Ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations and legislation by monitoring controls and procedures and making recommendations to adapt to changing circumstances. This is to ensure that any risk associated with non-compliance is assessed, rectified and managed appropriately moving forward in order to ensure that any impact to the charity is managed effectively.
- Delivering Excellence - Supporting the delivery of the Finance strategic agenda including taking the lead on the development and monitoring of the annual department Continuous Improvement Plan. This will involve undertaking a SWOT analysis of the Finance function in collaboration with colleagues in order to assess the current environment and produce a development plan to address shortcomings and aim for excellence.
- Being a subject specialist - Leading on VAT issues on behalf of the organisation in conjunction with external VAT advisors. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, review existing processes and consider the implications of changes in VAT regulations in order to ensure the charity is complying with legislation and maximising charitable reliefs available.
Successful candidates will be working a 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, you will hybrid work between home and a minimum of 1 day per week at our office at Lakeside in Portsmouth.

Role Overview & Aims
We are looking for someone who will drive the BHMA into a new phase of growth. Someone with passion and dedication who will believe in our purpose and help us achieve this. We want to grow our reach and find new members, journal subscribers and people to enrol on our course. We also want to start producing professional webinars and podcasts in the run up to our conference this Autumn. We would also like to streamline the administrative running of the BHMA to make it more efficient and sustainable, whilst growing our income streams.
How we work
The BHMA operates as a remote team however the hub is in the Bath/Bristol area with our AGM & a conference to be held near Bristol in 2024. We have 2-3 evening Zoom meetings per month and our remote administrator works mornings.
You will work from home using your own computer, however occasional face-to-face meetings would be a bonus.
Roles & responsibilities
Main duties:

Our partner is an international development agency. They are seeking an experienced grants auditor to manage grant audits covering the overseas HQ as well as country offices globally; the full cycle will include supporting in the development of audit requests, to the implementation of recommendations. This is a newly created position within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review proposals for grant audit requests, develop and manage implementation of audit workplans, and work with country and field offices to respond to audit queries in a timely manner.
- Manage the schedule for the organisational Single Audit, responding to audit queries, auditor concerns and findings in a timely manner.
- Lead in implementing the Single Audit and any grant audit recommendations, ensuring that senior leadership are aware of outcomes and corrective actions being taken.
- Develop tools and training materials to support staff in preparing for audits, and support the broader team in rolling out training on policies and procedures relation to grants management and compliance.

Requirements
- Qualified or QBE auditor, with at least 5 years of experience in managing donor grant audits within the international development sector. This includes planning and organising audits, and working with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful audit completion.
- At least four years of demonstrable knowledge of the compliance and requirements of institutional donors – ideally including US government, European government and FCDO grants.
- Strong communication skills, both written (report writing) and oral, in English. Working knowledge of an additional language, such as French or Spanish is desirable, but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experienced in working with a range of internal and stakeholders effectively and able to be tactful and have sensitive/challenging conversations.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
