The role: Fundraising Manager

We are seeking a Fundraising Manager with a passion for our mission, who will build positive relationships to secure significant income, working together to harness the power of adventure to create lasting change and transform communities for all.

This is a new role, leading our small but growing Fundraising Team, and having a real input into our plans and strategies for the future. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the successful candidate will oversee all fundraising income generation activity and lead on our Major Donor Giving Programme. A typical week could involve meeting with prospective donors, developing a case for support for a new stream of work, supporting team members to develop their own fundraising skills, and working with other departments to raise awareness of Bendrigg’s work.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned fundraiser to join and lead a forward-thinking and inclusive team and develop Bendrigg’s fundraising to support our new Strategic Plan. This opportunity is open to those wishing to work remotely (there would be an expectation to attend the office for a minimum of 2 weeks during the induction process, and thereafter at least 3 days per month throughout the year), looking for a hybrid working pattern or wanting to be fully office-based. The role is full time, however part-time on a minimum of 0.8FTE would be considered for the ideal candidate.

This is a new role, providing the scope for someone to play a significant role in helping to build a high performing and resilient organisation and to learn and apply new skills within a supportive environment.

The Data Systems Manager will support the development and use of digital data, analysis, and insight products that inform strategic decision making and enable colleagues to deliver high-quality policy and programme work.

Under the direction of the Head of Systems Improvement Project (SIP) the Data Systems Manager will actively maintain and develop the functionality and quality of WFD’s information management systems. They will provide project management support to our Systems Improvement Project that includes the development and implementation of a coherent organisational data strategy, and the integration of our main IT systems to a single, Microsoft-based architecture.

This role will work across the organisation communicating with a broad range of stakeholders around the word. Involves; providing advice, training and support for staff in the use of the systems, developing new methods for data visualisation and dissemination, and with guidance identifying process optimisation opportunities and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions.

About You

Tech savvy - able to demonstrate and apply a broad range of technical knowledge and skills. Technical qualifications are not critical for the role however it is essential you have.

• Experience in database management and/or design, either as part of a software development project or configuring tools.
• Experience with NO-CODE or LOW-CODE application development framework such as KNACK or Microsoft PowerApps.
• Must demonstrate ambition and the capacity to learn and grow as WFD’s data architecture evolves.

Who are Women’s Aid?   

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. Purpose of the Project Manager role:   

As Project Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in working across the organisation to ensure that sound project management principles are being used in all aspects of our work. You will be responsible for delivering cross-cutting, significant and complex programmes and projects that underpin Women’s Aid’s strategy. 

You will support the Head of Strategic Programmes to effectively schedule and monitor the projects, programmes and core business activity across the organisation, in line with our key strategic goals.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager: 

• Full scale project management of key strategic projects across a project’s full life cycle, to deliver within scope, on time, on budget, and within quality commitments. This includes designing project models, allocating resources, scheduling, monitoring, stakeholder communications, reporting and budget management. 

• Assessing and recommending to the senior leadership team the viability and suitability of new proposed projects. 

• Continually ensuring project specific risks are identified, assessed and mitigated, and escalating to senior managers as appropriate.

• Monitoring and managing interdependencies between projects across the organisation, and ensuring that projects are delivered in line with Women’s Aid’s strategic objectives.

What we are looking for in our Project Manager: 

Essential: 

• Substantial (5+ years) proven experience in project planning and execution, monitoring and reporting, and achievement of objectives. 

• Experience managing large (£50k+) and complex (e.g. cross-cutting multiple teams/functions) budgets. 

• Ability to work at pace and deliver to deadlines, prioritising work depending on organisational need.

• Ability to interpret top-line briefs and turn these into practical action.

• Ability to identify and manage project-based risks and issues, identify key decision points and define options for decision-makers. 

• Ability to work on own initiative to meet objectives in a complex, changing environment

This new Legacies Manager role is an exciting opportunity to deliver Speech and Language UK's first proactive legacy programme, which is a key part of their new strategy.

About Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust

We are a charity based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire with a commitment to working with and supporting children and young people under the age of 25 who are facing disadvantage in their lives.

The Charity

The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part. 

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Adventure Programme Support Manager to support both young people and volunteers on our Adventure Programme. Working alongside the Programme Managers you will act in a support function across the activity days and camps, and be involved in direct one to one support for young people. You will also work alongside the Volunteering Lead to recruit, manage and support the volunteers who are front and centre of ensuring our young people’s positive experiences and outcomes. This is a diverse role with the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people both through direct work and supporting the wider team.

Programme Support

This aspect of the role includes;

• Attending residential camps and activity days throughout the year, assisting with organising and delivering the Adventure Programme.

• Ensuring the highest standards of support, safety and safeguarding across the programme and all aspects of the Youth Adventure Trust’s work.

• Carrying out direct work with young people to help support their needs and fulfil the Youth Adventure Trust’s aims.

• Supporting work with the young people’s families to promote full attendance, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require.

• Supporting work with our referral partners to ensure they have an excellent understanding, relationship and experience with the Youth Adventure Trust.

• Contributing to ongoing feedback to young people, parents, carers and schools.

• Supporting the effective monitoring of the programme and measurement of young people’s developmental outcomes.

• Working with the Programme Managers to support young people moving on to the Mentoring Programme, and promoting take up of the Bursary Programme. 

• Supporting the development of further opportunities for young people both during and after their YAT journey. 

• Assisting the day-to-day administration and management of the programme. This may include maintaining a database, producing written communications and reports, information leaflets, website updates, budget monitoring, booking and negotiating with providers, and an array of detailed record keeping.

• Creating website and social media content to highlight and  promote YAT’s work. 

Volunteer Management 

Volunteers are critical to the success of our programme for vulnerable young people; recruiting, supporting and developing capable, skilled, empathetic, engaging and committed volunteers is essential to the impact of our work.

This aspect of the role includes;

• Promoting volunteering opportunities and recruiting new volunteers to the organisation to ensure needs are met.

• Acting as a key point of contact for volunteers, maintaining communication and engagement with the charity.

• Administering all aspects of a volunteer’s involvement with the Trust, including completing the relevant checks and references, record keeping and database maintenance. 

• Organising, preparing and information sharing with volunteers to ensure they are ready to fulfil their role. 

• Supporting volunteers in their role on our Adventure Programme, facilitating opportunities for informal supervision and debriefing. Our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the young people get as much as possible from their time with the Youth Adventure Trust, and often deal with challenging and impactful situations.

• Developing and coaching volunteers in their role through working alongside them as they support young people on our Adventure Programme residential camps and day activities. 

• Creating and delivering training opportunities for new and existing volunteers.

• Creating website, newsletter and social media content to promote volunteering and engagement with the charity. 

• Supporting our Volunteer Committee in their functions which include organising awareness raising and social events.

• Developing opportunities for a diverse portfolio of  volunteering roles within the organisation. 

• Supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports or event support.

Across the role you will;

• Be involved in sector networking and awareness raising on behalf of the Trust.

• Act as an ambassador for the Youth Adventure Trust at all times.

The post is subject to a six months’ probationary period.

The Candidate

To be up to the challenge you’ll need an excellent understanding and a proven track record of relevant experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people. You’ll need demonstrable skills at building effective relationships with young people, parents/carers, and professional organisations. In addition, you’ll need an excellent understanding of volunteering and relevant experience working with and managing volunteers. You’ll need strong influencing and motivational skills; the capacity to get the best out of people and confidently deal with issues. You’ll be an excellent communicator, planner and problem solver, a strong team player and an exemplary role model.

We need someone with:- 

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

• Relevant experience of working with young people aged 11 - 14 years old, preferably in a residential environment as well as outside of this.

• Relevant experience of working with volunteers in the Third Sector, including recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers.

• Knowledge of volunteering issues and legal requirements.

• Experience of delivering training and strong facilitation skills.

• Experience in working in partnership with other professional organisations.

• Strong team skills with the ability to motivate and support a wide range of people.

• Self-motivation with the ability to work on their own initiative to plan and manage their workload.

• Strong IT skills including experience of MS Office, databases and social media.

• Knowledge of marketing and promotion, with an ability to use those skills to promote opportunities effectively.

• Excellent administrative skills and a methodical and thorough approach.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to perform well and problem solve in high-stress and changing situations.  Ability to be flexible and dynamic in approach.

• A positive attitude, high energy and enthusiasm for the work of the Youth Adventure Trust. A personal interest in and an understanding of the positive impact outdoor adventure, especially for vulnerable young people, and a desire to help inspire young lives.

In addition:-

• The ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings, weekends and a handful of residential trips as required is essential - if you are looking for a predictable Monday to Friday, 9-5, work environment throughout the year, this won’t be the right fit.

• A full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required

Purpose of the role

Our PR & Media Manager is crucial to our plans to scale up our media coverage as we enter the final years of our campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam. As part of the Comms team, you will work closely with colleagues in our Programmes and Fundraising teams to amplify their work through public relations, celebrity support and media activity. Your key areas of responsibility will include press office management, preparing PR & Media plans for each of our key markets, preparing pitches, media releases and content for media outreach and building a library of case studies to showcase our work. Your other key area of responsibility is supporting our highly successful celebrity liaison to raise Animals Asia’s profile through earned, owned and shared digital platforms, print and broadcast media. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and creativity to help us raise awareness of Animals Asia and what we stand for, helping us grow our supporter base and meet our brand goals. You will be managed and supported by our Global Head of PR and Media.

Key duties:

1. Responding to media enquiries, drafting media releases, undertaking proactive pitch development, outreach to journalists, maintaining our database of media contacts and other general press office management.
2. Supporting our Founder and our Global Head of PR and Media to develop and grow relationships with influencers and high-profile supporters, and deliver campaigns involving celebrities and influencers.
3. Preparing, publishing, moderating and reporting on social media content for PR and media purposes.
4. Close working with international colleagues and managing our PR agencies globally to deliver PR campaigns in our key markets and professional media management at international events.
5. Supporting and promoting global campaigns, appeals and events by developing press releases, media packs, briefings and other PR materials.
6. Developing and maintaining a case study, asset and fact file library.

Person Specification

• Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a busy press office or PR agency, including drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries.
• Strong news sense, knowledge and interest in the environment, biodiversity and animal area is a plus.
• Experience of working with celebrities, their managers and agents.
• Good understanding of reputation management and associated risks.
• Experience in using media monitoring software to track media engagement, journalists and coverage.

Conditions and Benefits

Place of work: Home-based (Global).

Working Hours:           Full-time.  Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm.  You will be required to work such additional hours as are necessary to fulfil your role which may include evenings and weekends.  You will be expected to manage your hours, responsibilities and workload accordingly.

The role is essential to delivering the charities income targets for Trusts and Foundations and developing long term relationships. In addition, the post holder will support the Head of Income Generation with approaching, reporting, and maintaining Trust and Foundation relationships for major appeals.

he Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising team and focus on delivering income targets from trusts and foundations. The role is responsible for growing LDCT’s trust and foundation income by increasing the amount and longevity of funding from current supporters, as well as building a portfolio of new trusts and foundations through research, maintaining a pipeline of prospects, updating the Funding Matrix and making successful applications. Building good relationships with new funders including regular reporting, as well as good stewardship of existing funders, is an important part of the role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Delivering on fundraising priorities and targets for trusts and foundations income, including our current and future major appeals.
2. Researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate trusts and foundations to maintain and convert a pipeline of new, prospective trusts and foundations.
3. Working with colleagues across the organisation to help shape projects for funding and creating strong Cases for Support to ensure effective applications.
4. Writing and submitting high quality targeted funding applications.
5. Maintaining an effective stewardship programme for trusts and foundations including appropriate accurate records, ensuring the fundraising e-Tapestry database is kept up-todate and that fundraising income is processed efficiently with timely thank you letters and acknowledgements.

You will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of prospects and donors through a range of engagement, to gain their financial support for programmes, projects and the wider RSPB. What's the role about?

As a team player with a positive and diligent approach, you will:

• Look after your own portfolio of donors as well as reaching out to prospects and new donors. You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
• Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
• Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
• Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
• Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
• Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
• Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
• Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
• Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
• Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
• Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained
