This role is an exciting opportunity to help realise Tusk’s further growth potential, by implementing and continuing to evolve Tusk’s communications strategy and managing all of Tusk’s communications, from print and digital communications, to engagement with the press and other media. The communications strategy covers Tusk’s operations and fundraising in the UK, US, and across Africa.
The successful candidate will come to the position with a proven track record in marketing and communications, preferably with a good understanding of African wildlife conservation issues and / or working in a charity environment.
The role will be based out of Tusk’s headquarters in Gillingham, Dorset, with the potential for some working from home, as well as travel to London and potentially elsewhere on occasion.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Strategy
- Develop, implement, review and evaluate Tusk’s communications strategy, working with the senior leadership team, and the Head of Digital, as well as external PR agencies.
- Implement the narrative elements of Tusk’s brand positioning, style and tone of voice, working with the Design and Brand Manager (who manages the visual elements).
- Working with the management team, determine the key issues on which Tusk can have greatest impact (complementing and supporting the role that its Royal Patron can also play) and tailor communications accordingly.
- In conjunction with the fundraising team, develop strategies to enhance communications with Tusk’s different target groups, especially high-net worth individuals, decision-makers, and the public.
- Work with the Tusk team to develop, manage, deliver and evaluate integrated communications campaigns to raise awareness of the threats facing African wildlife, and help secure funds to tackle them.
- Work with the Tusk team to amplify the voices of our project partners, working with African media in particular.
- Plan, execute and evaluate the press and communication needs for major fundraising events, coordinating work with PR agencies as required.
- Line manage the Communications and Content Assistant.
Press and Media Management
- Manage Tusk’s engagement with the press and media to secure greater coverage, coordinating activities with external PR agencies as required.
- Develop relationships with journalists so that Tusk is approached as the leading authority on key conservation-related issues.
- Prepare and disseminate press releases.
- Secure interviews for the CEO and other spokespeople, particularly around key campaigns and events.
- Develop effective platforms from which Tusk’s Royal Patron and other patrons can deliver messages in support of the communications strategy.
Supporter Communications
- Coordinate the production of and edit Tusk’s bi-annual newsletters, annual Tusk Talk magazine, and all other printed marketing collateral, including for events.
- Support the digital team on the development of the Tusk website, writing and uploading regular news posts.
- Manage the Communications and Content Assistant for the implementation of Tusk’s social media strategy and the sending of regular e-shots to Tusk’s e-newsletter subscribers in both the UK and US.
- Support the development of promotional films and podcasts on Tusk’s work.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- A proven track record (minimum 5 years) in developing and delivering communications strategies
- An understanding of working in Africa
- Excellent understanding of media and their needs
- Outstanding writing and editorial skills
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships internally and externally
- Good organisation, time management and ability to focus on a specific task (as well as multi-tasking)

Online Fundraising Assistant
Position Objective:
To contribute to the execution of international PETA entities’ online fundraising programmes by assisting in the production of online fundraising campaigns, social media campaigns, and data management

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with PETA entities’ online fundraising campaigns, including data selection and quality checking, e-mail scheduling, donation tracking, and reporting
- Assist with PETA entities’ social media fundraising campaigns, including ad monitoring, comment section moderating, rejection responses, and reporting
- Assist with the statistical analysis of online fundraising campaigns
- Review online donation transaction data and ensure it is entered into the relevant databases in a timely manner
- Maintain the online fundraising appeal archive and ensure that materials are organised and stored efficiently
- Assist in building online advocacy campaigns for PETA entities
- Ensure the operation of the fundraising and data collection elements of PETA entities’ websites
- In liaison with the supporter services administrator, assist in maintaining and updating supporter records and subscriptions in fundraising databases
- As directed, work with the PETA Foundation US IT Department and database-management vendors to ensure that all data collected online is managed and maintained properly

Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising
Position Objective:
To solicit major gifts (£5,000 and above) to support PETA’s international programmes and campaigns.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategy for international for major gifts fundraising
- Manage and maintain a portfolio major gift donors and prospects, across PETA international entities
- Effectively steward donors and prospects
- Develop personal engagement plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications
- Solicit major financial contributions from targeted donors
- Manage a pipeline of prospects, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level
- Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
- Maintain accurate records on PETA entities’ databases with relevant information and research
- Work with the prospect researcher to obtain useful information, helping make appropriate asks
- Participate in budgeting process
- Monitor donors’ motivations and interests – keeping accurate and up to date records in the database
- Develop cultivation events within regional hotspots throughout PETA entities

Abortion Support Network is a largely volunteer-run charity that helps people living in European countries with bad abortion laws and provision access safe abortions in clinics abroad. ASN provides practical information, support, funding, travel and accommodation.
We are looking for a candidate to cover our Fundraising and Communications Manager’s maternity leave from the end of June 2024 until the end of March 2025. The Supporter Care Officer (SCO) is responsible for all donor support processes, systems, strategies and individual giving fundraising appeals, which ensure we have excellent relationships with our donors to retain and grow our IG income. This is a challenging and busy role supporting the delivery of the Financial Inclusion programme across the UK, including support for Financial Inclusion projects under the Scotland team. The Financial Inclusion Assistant is responsible for providing high level support to the Head of Financial Inclusion, Senior Managers and other team members as appropriate. The Financial Inclusion Assistant supports the coordination and delivery of a range of projects, communications, events and working groups across the Financial Inclusion department.
Role responsibilities
· Support the delivery and coordination of projects and working groups within the Financial Inclusion department and management of team email inbox
· Support the Financial Inclusion Leadership team to manage team engagement, planning meetings and working groups, taking minutes and assisting in the preparation of reports, communications, presentations and other documents
· Perform administrative duties for any Steering Groups led by the Financial Inclusion department, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, recording minutes and producing reports as required
· Support the Financial Inclusion department through excellent stakeholder management, building positive relationships between teams across the Trussell Trust
· Act as a key contact point between the SLG and the Financial Inclusion department, ensuring expectations and objectives are met and all queries answered satisfactorily
. Organise and support the Head of Financial Inclusion with events, both internally and with other key stakeholders, liaising with event management companies when appropriate
Person Specification
Technical skills and minimum knowledge:
· Strong administration skills
· Strong organisation skills and experience of working with tight deadlines and managing a varied workload
· Experience of supporting the organisation and delivery of a range of projects, events and meetings
· Strong IT skills including confidence in using all MS Office applications

Your role
As Assistant Shop Manager at Scope's Parkstone shop, you’ll work alongside the Shop Manager, and use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. You will be able to use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You may also deputise and be responsible for running the shop when the shop manager is absent. A great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as relevant experience.
About you
You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic and committed to providing excellent customer service. You do not need specific retail experience. But we do ask that you are business minded and have worked in a fast paced, service environment where you put the customer’s needs first. You’ll also need to showcase a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and have a creative eye for displays. You will also demonstrate an appreciation of Scope’s values and ambition of achieving Everyday Equality for disabled people.

Our shops are the face of our retail brand, run by a dedicated, creative and passionate bunch of superstars. We focus on sustainable fashion and engaging with local communities. We lead our volunteers to deliver a great colleague and customer experience. And we raise much needed funds to deliver Everyday Equality for disabled people and their families.

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day, so some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. We work 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to come and work with us as part of our Retail Team, based at our Exmouth shop. We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join us 3 days per week. Working closely with the Shop Manager, you will play a key role in leading the team, maximising sales and ensuring that the highest level of customer service is consistently delivered. Daily tasks may include:
- Providing cover for the Manager in their absence

About the Role

Whichever Programme you lead, you will have experience of:
· Leading complex multi-partner and stakeholder programmes in the VCSE or public sector
· Leading large programmes including programme management, governance, monitoring, impact measurement and reporting
· Working in an evolving strategic and operational environment and able to maintain and direct impactful programmes through periods of change
· Building and delivering communication strategies, using learning and insight to drive transformation
