Clinical Director – Executive Team
Regional & national role based in Exeter

Are you passionate about creating a more equitable health and care system? Do you share our belief that innovation has the potential to improve health equity? We’re looking for a clinical leader with experience leading improvement and change to join our Executive Team.
Our appointed Clinical Director will be a member of our Executive Team and report to our Chief Executive Officer. They will be responsible for clinical leadership and oversight across our portfolio of work focused on the adoption and spread of innovation to improve health equity. They will sit on our Board and bring clinical expertise to our Board and Executive Team.

The South West Academic Health Science Network (South West AHSN) is one of 15 AHSNs in England, established by NHS England in 2013 to identify and spread innovative practice to improve population health and generate economic growth. Based in Exeter and working across Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, we support the health and care system to identify and adopt innovation, build the capability to innovate and evaluate the impact of improvements. We focus our efforts on improving health equity – identifying and spreading innovative practice that helps close health equity gaps in access to care, quality of care and individual opportunity for a healthy life.
We are a regional organisation with a national reach. Working in collaboration with the AHSN Network, our work transforms lives through health innovation and plays a critical role in supporting the health and care sector across England. The combined work of the AHSN Network has benefited over 258,000 people and leveraged over £462m of investment into the health and life science sector.
For example, in the last year our work has enabled 100% of Clinical Commissioning Groups in England to launch the national COVID Oximetry @home model of care and helped our partners to support 2,339 children to receive objective ADHD assessments.
