This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of the award winning South West London Law Centres. We are looking for an experienced operations manager or similar who is ready to make the transition to Deputy Chief Executive and who is as passionate as us about promoting access to justice.
We provide free specialist legal advice to local people who need it most – people who'd otherwise be unable to afford legal help. We also offer low cost and fixed fee services. Our Law Centre currently assists more than 8,000 people per year. We’ve recently been shortlisted for the prestigious Legal Aid Firm of the Year 2020 by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG) – the membership body representing legal aid practitioners in England and Wales.
This is a new role which will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to develop their skills within the organisation as we transform the way we work. The initial focus of the role will be on making this transformation and the CEO will work cooperatively with you over the roles and responsibilities.
The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a small senior management team with a very varied workload. The Deputy Chief Executive will assist and lead in many aspects of the administration and management of the law centre, which is a complex charitable business to run on legal aid, grant funding and donations. You will be joining us at a time where we will be changing our services to meet a great deal of new demand and when we need to look at entirely new ways of giving advice to vulnerable people.
The role includes routine, essential duties as well as responding to the needs of a dynamic and growing workplace. You will need to be comfortable working independently and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment, taking a lead on helping us adapt to remote working and continuing to deliver high quality, specialist advice services in a new way.
We are seeking someone who is very practical, flexible, adaptable and confident in managing change. You will need a high degree of technical proficiency coupled with excellent communication skills. You must be organised, discreet and committed to SWLLC’s mission and values.
