Job description

SDCAS is an established local charity providing holistic services to help relieve poverty and distress for asylum seekers and refugees, and where safeguarding issues are a significant part of our support work.

We seek to appoint a Safeguarding Development Worker to improve our practices in this area.

This is an important role to help develop a better understanding of what safeguarding solutions should look like for this client group and will include:

  • Acting as a point of contact for internal safeguarding enquiries and referrals;
  • Strengthening our policies and procedures to help identify risk, reduce crisis and eliminate harm;  
  • Building and cultivating connections with other agencies in order to help protect asylum seekers/refugees.

Knowledge of safeguarding best practice and refugee issues; a focused manner; good communication and organisational skills are required. Collaborative working abilities are essential.
