Job description

At Sport England, we are working to help everyone, regardless of age, background or level of ability to feel able to engage in sport and physical activity.

We launched our 10-year strategy Uniting the Movement in January 2021 – a bold vision to transform lives and communities through sport and physical activity.

We’re looking for a brilliant individual to lead our Digital and Content team and help us play a vital role in promoting Sport England’s expertise and award-winning campaigns to help the nation get active.

We can’t do this alone and Uniting the Movement is our call-to-arms to a vast army of stakeholders – some within the sport and physical activity sector, and some in other industries like transport and health.

You will play a lead part in helping promote the strategy to stakeholders by ensuring that our digital channels are offering everyone the information they need to play their role in the movement.

You will have overall responsibility for all digital channels, including our websites, newsletters and reports (but not social). Leading a team of three, you’ll be writing and editing copy, whether it’s news stories, blogs, reports or strategy documents that explain Sport England’s vision. You’ll work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver a range of audience appropriate messages.

You will be a brilliant writer and have a nose for news, with an ability to create compelling content out of sometimes complex issues.

You’ll need plenty of digital expertise too as you will be leading the continual improvement of our channels using data and evaluation.

The Content team sits within a larger Digital, Marketing and Communications team and you will work closely with press, external affairs and social to ensure that our digital channels are one of a suite of channels we’re using effectively to communicate.

Sport England recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly where we are under-represented, currently, this includes disabled people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
