A team from Holy Trinity Brompton reopened a closed St Alban's Fulham 8 years ago. We are now a thriving, dynamic, local church in West London, embedded in the local community.

Our particular areas of focus are students, youth, older people, families and professionals. Over time we have built strong local partnerships and currently work in collaboration with the council, police, local schools and charities and the Youth Offending Team. Every month we reach out to hundreds of people serving them in the most appropriate way for their particular life stage both on our site and in venues around the area.
The buildings and campus are an essential part of our work. The buildings provide not only a flexible space for much of our activity but are also a source of income for us which, combined with our congregational giving and fundraising, enables us to run projects, courses and events.
The Director of Operations is part of the leadership team of St Alban’s Fulham. Working closely with the Vicar, PCC, and staff team, the Director of Operations ensures the smooth and efficient day to day running of the organisation, but also helps shape the vision and strategic needs of the church. This includes, site management, governance, HR, finances and annual budgeting. They are also responsible for maximising income by achieving the optimum balance of rates and rentals for tenants, regular and one-off bookings.
As a rapidly growing organisation there is plenty of opportunity and appetite for innovation and efficiency in this role.
Coding and reconciling all financial transactions including sales and revenue invoices and expenses.
Issuing regular and one-off invoices for site rentals and other church activities
Running reports for all aspects of church life
Manage gift aid claim
Managing the site
- Co-ordinate the use of the site including long-term tenant management, regular & one-off bookings.
Identify opportunities to increase income from the site through negotiating current bookings & seeking new opportunities.
Manage all contracts for service providers e.g. cleaners, utilities
Manage small maintenance repairs to the site
Ensure legal site requirements are met such as health & safety checks, site policies etc.
Manage office administration and HR for staff team.
Support the development of staff and leadership teams encouraging cohesion & fun.
Proactively implement and refine day-to-day organisational processes.
- Manage key church events and provide organisational support for on-going community events.Fundraising
- Provide documentation as required by the Fundraising Manager.
KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
A passion to serve and release the vision of St Alban’s Church.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Ability to streamline processes to increase efficiency of day-to-day operations.
A natural planner with initiative to anticipate and implement for future needs.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent administrative skills.
A self-starter who is able to work independently.
A ‘can do’, gracious attitude.
Tidy, methodical approach with good attention to detail.
Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure, and to cope with the unexpected.
Role Title Director of Operations
Salary Between £28 to £33k depending on previous experience + pension
Hours 37.5 hours per week
Contract 5 days per week (flexible on hours)
Location St Alban’s Fulham, W6 8HJ
Annual Leave 25 Days
