St Barnabas Hospices is seeking a Director of Income Generation and Marketing to lead their award-winning income generation team and be part of one of the largest and most successful charities in the South East.
The hospices encompass St Barnabas House (opened in 1973) which provides specialist, palliative care for adults with life-threatening illnesses of all ages (1,786 patients last year) and Chestnut Tree House which offers care to children and young people with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Chestnut Tree House opened in 2003 and cared for 345 children last year and supported 238 bereaved families across a wide region of Sussex and South East Hampshire. Combined, the two hospices have an annual turnover of around £18m, 500 staff and over 2,000 volunteers.
The organisation is now looking for an outstanding fundraising and marketing leader as it looks to expand and improve the reach of both hospices, to help more children, adults and their families. You will lead the income generation, marketing and external communications team for both hospices covering one of the strongest and best-performing hospice retail chains, the biggest single hospice Lottery in the UK and the Snowman Spectacular Ball - the most successful fundraising gala in the southeast. The successful candidate will explore plans for a possible capital appeal for refurbishing Chestnut Tree House, deliver an agreed strategy to significantly grow retail and lottery and review brand and messaging for both hospices.
You will have significant high-level experience in income generation management and marketing within sizeable charities, as well as a wide knowledge and understanding of a range of income streams. You will be able to show achievement of substantial income targets and of driving growth, have a high level of commercial awareness and a good understanding of brand development. The charity is looking for an individual with highly developed interpersonal and teamworking skills who can motivate and inspire their teams and who is also strategic, creative and innovative at developing new programmes to generate income. Finally, you must also share the hospices’ values of being caring, connected and courageous, placing children and adults, their families and carers at the heart of all they do.
