Job Description

St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group (SJEHG) is the only charitable provider of expert eye care in the occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt). We have been treating patients regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay for over 135 years. Our sight-saving work is carried out against challenging and difficult odds to the highest international standards.

We are looking for an experienced Development Officer to be part of our fundraising team in our London Officer. The Development Officer will work with the Director and Fundraising Assistant to deliver fundraising plan. Implement short and long term fundraising appeals that support the overall vision of St John Eye Hospital and achieve its fundraising goals. Develop a strong and successful portfolio of Individual, Trust, Statutory, Corporate and other funders. To raise income with a focus on securing donations at the five and six figure level from major donors by researching, identifying and cultivating major donors. Establish excellent client care for all relevant donors. Ensure that timely, effective, appropriate acknowledgement and recognition of gifts are provided to the donors.

Ensure that appropriate documentation and processes exist for each gift to honour the wishes of the donor and the needs of the charity.

Work with the Director and Fundraising Assistant to find fundraising channels for projects identified by the CEO/Senior Management Team.

Communicate effectively to external and internal constituencies on the progress, success and results of fundraising. Assist the Director and other members of the team with content for Annual Review and other such publications. Provide input on website content and other written material including our newsletter, Jerusalem Scene which is currently produced - twice - a year. Conduct  Prospect Research to help identify and bring new prospects to the attention of the team both individuals and trusts and to reflect upon research profiles in order to create informed individual engagement, cultivation and solicitation plans.
