Job Description

Assessment & Reconnection Worker – Routes Home Service

£28,908 - £32,398 pro rata

Shepherds Bush/London

Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Fixed term opportunity until 31 March 2020

Are you passionate about supporting an end to Rough Sleeping? We are looking for someone who shares our passion, to join the Routes Home Service as an Assessment & Reconnection Worker.

At St Mungo’s our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.  As a homelessness charity and housing association our clients are at the heart of what we do. We provide a bed and support to more than 2,700 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to end homelessness and rebuild lives.

The Routes Home Service aims to rapidly intervene to prevent and support non-UK nationals from sleeping rough.  Routes Home is a brand new service set up to ensure as many non-UK national rough sleepers as possible receive a rapid response, a full assessment of their needs and an offer of help to move away from rough sleeping. We believe that rough sleeping is harmful and dangerous and are committed to ensuring that no one need sleep rough in London.

As an Assessment & Reconnection Worker you will provide support, advice and interventions to help end rough sleeping for non-UK nationals. You will be part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by rough sleeping. You will carry out comprehensive assessments, and provide a personalised case management service for those who need to be reconnected, turning assessment recommendations into a practical action plan which fully involves the client.

We are looking for individuals who are dynamic and creative with excellent communication and negotiating skills. You do not need direct experience, this role will suit those with experience of working at pace in a public facing environment. You will need some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services. If you have good communication skills, are able to work with others whilst managing your own time and have the ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop these valuable skills we want to hear from you.

We are proud of the diverse backgrounds and experiences that our staff bring to this unique service, and we will offer you bespoke training around all aspects of the role to ensure you gain the skills and experience you need to deliver the best service to our clients.

Successful candidates will be based at our office in Shepherd's Bush but will be expected to work peripatetically across London.

In return, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities; in support of their personal and professional development.

If you believe that you have what we are looking for, and have an interest in working for a charity which makes a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless, we encourage you to apply.

Please ensure that you read the comprehensive job description and person specification for the role. When applying please address the person specification, clearly setting out how you meet the requirements for the role.
