About the role
We are looking for someone to join the St Mungo’s Governance team to play a key role in assisting the Director of Governance to support Trustees and the Executive team in fulfilling their governance, compliance and best practice responsibilities for the charity.
In the role of Governance Officer you will:
- Ensure Board and Committee meetings are properly organised and managed, with particular responsibility for St Mungo’s committee structure.
- Provide advice on governance matters to enable trustees and staff to meet their governance responsibilities.
- Be responsible for coordinating the internal audit programme, as well as undertaking risk management and compliance activities across St Mungo’s.
- Prepare reports and analyse data in order to assess legal and regulatory requirements.
About you
The successful candidate is likely to be a governance professional with experience in charity and/or housing association governance. You will need to have the ability to initiate and maintain positive and effective working relationships with others, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to present complex information in a concise and easy to understand way. The ability to plan and work methodically to manage projects and multiple priorities within tight deadlines is also essential.

Flexible Working and Pension
- We are committed to maintaining your work/life balance. We offer 25 days annual leave, and operate a very popular Flexi Time scheme, which allows you to supplement your annual leave entitlement. After 5 years, staff annual leave entitlement increases to 28 days.
- St Mungo’s contribute 4% of your gross annual salary, and you are able to enrol in the Defined Contribution scheme following a successful probationary period in which the employer contribution is 6%.
