About the roles

We have some exciting opportunities for people to join the team in Oxford working with vulnerable adults with complex needs who are experiencing homelessness. Working within Housing First or Complex Needs you will work with a person centred approach to support clients in their own homes as well as in the community, you will build and maintain effective relationships with local partner agencies to support clients throughout their recovery.

The Housing First Service is an innovative approach to supporting the most, excluded and hard to reach clients. It focuses on finding housing first; and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual’s homelessness. In the role of Housing First Worker you will be responsible for a caseload of clients and deliver ongoing and intensive support to help your clients set up their home, with the overall goal of supporting them to sustain their tenancy and achieve individual goals and aspirations. 

As a Complex Needs Worker you will alongside the Navigator and local services to support a caseload of clients in the community to achieve long term sustained outcomes around health, housing, employment and training. You will use specialist interventions and advice to support some of the most marginalised people in the community.

About you

These roles will suit motivated, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives, as well as:

  • The ability to work independently when required and to manage your own caseload with a proactive and innovative approach to your work and to work flexibly in order to provide ‘tailored support’ to meet clients individual needs and aspirations. 
  • An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with others, the ability to manage complex behaviours and to deal with people who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation.
  • The ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop these valuable skills. 
  • Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives.

Pay and Other Benefits

  • For these roles staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for unsocial hours worked as part of a day shift after 8pm or before 8am Monday to Friday as well as for all hours during day shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
  • St Mungo’s is proud to pay client facing staff above average for the sector. We run a cycle to work scheme and also offer season tickets loans to all staff. St Mungo’s contribute 4% of your gross annual salary, and you are able to enrol in the Defined Contribution scheme following a successful probationary period in which the employer contribution is 6%.
