Lewisham, Greater London
£24,779 - £27,449 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

Do you have a passion for working with people and the ability to empathise with others?

About the role

St. Mungo’s Hither Green is home for 68 people in the Lewisham supported accommodation pathway for vulnerable adults. We are privileged to work with a diverse group of residents to identify and achieve their individual goals for their time living with us, hopefully leading to moving on to accommodation with a lower level of support after one to two years.

We are seeking a full time, permanent Night Worker to lead shifts at night. The focus of the role will be on building positive relationships with our residents and on keeping them and the service safe and compliant during overnight hours. The service has made vast improvements in quality of delivery in the last few years and we are looking for someone to join at an exciting, future focussed time when the whole team works towards our recent work plan objective: making Hither Green a place where no resident can ever feel bored.

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will be able to communicate in a sensitive, assertive and nuanced manner that builds trust and effective working relationships with residents who are experiencing issues including substance and alcohol addiction, poor mental health, offending behaviour and histories of abuse.

You will also be strongly committed to upholding St. Mungo’s policies and the law in key areas such as safeguarding of vulnerable adults, and health and safety. We are seeking someone who is experienced in working with people and who understands the issues that homeless or other vulnerable adults face, through your paid or voluntary work or your own lived experience.

What we offer

  • Excellent Development and Growth Opportunities

St Mungo’s employees are encouraged to consider opportunities to develop new skills or progress including; secondments, internal transfers, application to new roles in the organisation or just to get involved in various projects happening within the organisation.

  • A Diverse and Inclusive Work Place

At St Mungo’s, equality, diversity and inclusion are central to the organisation's values and how we work. We are proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion and have 7 great Diversity Networks to support clients and staff from different backgrounds so they are able to be their best selves.
