Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Centre Manager to join our established Support Centre in Leeds. The project consists of a Depot which fulfils furniture referrals in the Leeds area, as well as a Support Centre that offers a range of services including a shop, café, education classes, advice and social activities.

 

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about helping people in need and enhancing the local community. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running and overall management, development of new activities / services and the financial sustainability of the Centre.

 

Working Hours = Full time - You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week

Location = Leeds

Contract = Permanent

Salary = Up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver a sustainable strategy, budget and plan for the centre
  • Manage all paid staff and volunteers at the centre, including all relevant HR responsibilities
  • Develop internal/external relationships with key stakeholders including internal management committees and external partnerships
  • Manage the building including all safety and compliance checks and the terms of the lease.
  • Develop new income streams, costs savings and creative ideas for the sustainability of the centre 
  • Generate and oversee all centre services and activities in terms of range and type including existing third party contracts
  • Ensure SVP working procedures are established and that safe systems are in place with any potential safeguarding concerns being immediately reported/escalated
  • Ensure there are necessary monitoring/evaluation procedures and that all relevant statistics are available in compliance with the project specification
  • Promote the centre locally and nationally as required with the use of social media and external marketing events

 

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED:

  • Experience managing a Support Centre or Support activities / services
  • A great leader with line management experience
  • A good understanding of general policies and procedures including safeguarding, HR, etc.
  • Good knowledge of local community needs and demographics
  • Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Exceptional people skills with patience and empathy for vulnerable people
  • Great networking skills with the ability to sell the Centre and build partnerships

 

It is desirable that the candidate can demonstrate the following –

  • Experience in fundraising and marketing
  • Experience in developing business strategy
  • Experience working with vulnerable people
