Cardiff
£52,000-£65,000
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

Stonewall exists to bring about equality and acceptance for LGBT people in the UK and worldwide. Our vision is a world where everyone, everywhere is free to be themselves. We believe we're stronger united and we partner with organisations that help us create real change for the better. We have laid deep foundations across Britain - in some of our greatest institutions - so our communities can continue to find ways to flourish, and individuals can reach their full potential. We're here to support those who can't yet be themselves.

But our work is not finished yet. Not until everyone feels free to be who they are, wherever they are.

With a new Chief Executive and Chair, this is a very exciting time to join us as we undertake an ambitious work programme with a new vision, mission and new business priorities. Our aim is to deepen our work with different communities internationally, nationally, regionally and locally to achieve real change in the daily lives of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people.

Director of Cymru

Our Cardiff office or flexible with significant travel to Cardiff

£52,000-£65,000

Stonewall, Martha Awojobi (of #CharitySoWhite), and Prospectus are delighted to be working together to recruit Stonewall's Director of Cymru, reporting to the Chief Executive. The Director of Cymru is a crucial part of our Operational Management Group, driving directorate strategy, performance and the continual development of Stonewall's culture, values and standards of behaviour.

The Cymru team works to shape a Wales where people are free to be themselves, organisations help drive change, public attitudes improve, prejudice is challenged, and laws protect LGBT people. We facilitate sustainable improvement for LGBT people by partnering with business and community organisations, as well as role models and allies.

We are looking for an empowering leader, fluent in Welsh language who has experience of ambassadorial work, relationship building and influencing stakeholders in Wales across government, funders and the media. You will have experience delivering programmes and influencing policy, and you are able to effectively balance a variety of internal and external facing aims.

You will be an experienced and highly inclusive leader and manager, with experience of coaching, supporting change and developing staff to reach their full potential. Crucially, you will proactively drive forward Stonewall's race equity and trans inclusion journey as we continue to embrace an intersectional approach.

At Stonewall we want you to feel involved in all aspects of our work and to have amazing opportunities during your time with us. Everyone is accepted for who they are, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you're pregnant or on family leave. In line with our commitments to race equity and trans inclusion, we are particularly seeking applications from trans people and/or People of Colour/BAME people. We have a number of staff network groups which provide peer support and safe spaces for staff who hold these and other identities.
