Job Title: Senior Programme Manager - Afghanistan
Principal Location: Kabul
Contract: Full Time, 2 year fixed term contract with possible extension
Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 USD per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
Street Child are searching for a dynamic programmes professional, preferably with a great background in child protection and/or education, to drive our diverse, growing portfolio in Afghanistan. This Kabul-based role reports to the Head of Asia Programmes; and will lead Street Child Afghanistan's key stakeholder engagement, business development, operational delivery, monitoring and reporting.
Street Child (via its subsidiary, Children in Crisis) has a proud 25-year history of achieving results for children in Afghanistan with the support of multiple partners including UK, US, UN, EU and philanthropy. In recent years the charity has been best known in Afghanistan for its work in juvenile justice, which remains important; however the primary mid-term strategic focus of the team is education-in-emergencies, which this role is expected to strongly support. Livelihoods, anti-trafficking, and dedicated child protection services for at risk categories (e.g. returnee refugees), and COVID-19 response activities are other aspects of the recent/live portfolio.
This role will work in close collaboration with the local team and partners, providing surge and capacity strengthening support as required. The program manager is the country representative and will monitor the finance, M&E, security, admin and logistics structures, work closely with the project managers and support on project implementation, and will be responsible for external liaison with national and international partners, government officials, and donors. The 'partnership approach' is key to Street Child's philosophy - and the ability to drive results through purposeful, respectful engagement with local NGO partners is critical to success. Ideally the role holder is able to provide strong technical support in child protection and / or education programming.
