Job description

Do you have experience in Admin Support?

Do you want to be part of something amazing, a new start-up charity where you will get to help shape, develop and grow its future?

We are setting up a brand new small charity called “The Sunshine Charity” in response to the high levels of loneliness, isolation and mental health issues and needs that arise from being lonely and we want to be the sunshine in people’s lives to help them break isolation and give them the support and networks to build positive friendships and relationships, while giving them new opportunities and life experiences to help boost their happiness and wellbeing.

The charity is being set up due to the Founders experiences with a lack of support and care for his sister who is disabled and doesn’t receive any mentoring or have any friendships with people her own age, which has made her suicidal, feeling very unhappy with no-where to turn.

Also, within the Founders daytime job within social work, with the high rise of a number of people who have attempted or committed suicide due to being lonely with no help and support.

We are at the very start our journey with nothing to our name, but we want to make a difference and start a movement that brings sunshine to people’s lives. We may be small and brand-new, but our hearts are very big, and we really do care.

As we are new and small, starting out on our journey, we want to run a weekly drop-in session for all people that are isolated or lonely in a kind of Café style for people to come have a coffee and talk about their feelings and issues to someone who can just sit and listen to them and give them that human connection and contact much needed in their life, we will also aim to provide some social based activities in a back room for those who want to be a bit more social and interactive.

We also aim to start a project for young people with disabilities who are aged 18 to 30 years old, to provide social based activities and events to bring people with disabilities together and help break their loneliness and isolation and make some friends.

We’re recruiting one or two Volunteers for the position of Admin Support who can lead on all administrative aspects at the Sunshine Charity; including; meeting and greeting visitors at our drop-ins, activities and events, managing correspondence such as emails and telephone calls, taking notes at meetings and typing up a final copy, writing reports and filing, as well as other general administrative duties, supporting the Founder, Senior Leadership Team and also the general team in all admin support needs.

You will be one of the faces of the charity, and vital for building and promoting our organisational culture, so we will need someone with excellent people skills, who is approachable, well organised and able to manage multiple tasks.

You must have previous experience in admin support, with excellent grasp of the English Language both oral and written. You must also be able to manage your own time and workload and meet deadlines to ensure we can move forward without delays.

Why not volunteer with us and help us transform the lives of vulnerable people suffering in silence and let’s break the chains of isolation and loneliness.
