An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Development Worker to join our Cambridgeshire team on a Full time basis. The post will be home based with work across Cambridgeshire including advocacy drop ins, advocacy groups and providing training to support people to learn to advocate for themselves. You will begin to develop a team of volunteers that can support some of this work.
You will be promoting POhWER who support a wide range of vulnerable adults often with profound and multiple needs, so experience of networking will be valuable, along with a good working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.
The successful applicant will be a self-starter with a proven track record in relationship establishment and development and also have experience in community engagement. You will receive a full personalised induction programme and role specific training. Your line manager and supervisor will support you as you develop into your role. A full induction and training schedule will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in, or a good understanding of, advocacy, information and advice or similar role - ideally in a health, social care or voluntary setting and will have experience of promoting the support of vulnerable adults. More importantly to us, you will need to share our values and passion about advocacy. This is an opportunity to add real value to the lives of vulnerable people.
Because of the nature and location of the role, applicants must live within the advertised area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport. Travel expenses will only be paid within the Cambridgeshire border.

About the Assistant Safeguarding Officer Role:
As our Assistant Safeguarding Officer, you will be responsible for managing a caseload and giving support and advice to local volunteer managers in responding to concerns or complaints affecting the safety and welfare of young people; for progressing some safeguarding concerns and making the necessary referrals to statutory agencies where required. The Assistant Safeguarding Officer will work with Safeguarding Officers, and be supported and supervised by Safeguarding Managers.
What we are looking for in our Assistant Safeguarding Officer:
- Relevant experience and/or professional qualification in safeguarding/child protection/child welfare or related field
- Knowledge of the Scout Movement or similar youth organisations
- An understanding and acceptance of fundamental values of Scouting
- Knowledge of the Disclosure Bodies’ processes
- Experience of making referrals to and engaging with statutory agencies
- Experience of communicating with parents and carers regarding complex situations
- The ability to undertake risk assessments
Key responsibilities as our Assistant Safeguarding Officer:
- Assessing welfare concerns affecting young people in Scouts, including ‘children in need’: bullying, self-harm, and other welfare concerns
- Taking necessary action to appropriately address welfare concerns including, informing and advising the parents/carers of children subject to referrals
- Assessing lower threshold safeguarding referrals, including conduct and suitability issues
- Making referrals to statutory or professional agencies in respect of allegations and concerns affecting young people and adult members in Scouting
- Contacting statutory agencies to gain updates and outcomes of their enquiries, to allow Safeguarding Officers to proceed with safeguarding matters and allegations. Share Scouting updates with statutory agencies
- Operating within UK legislation and statutory guidance in relation to young people within Scouts, and adults who hold a Position of Trust
- Providing support and guidance to Scout volunteer managers to enable them to implement a local response to welfare concerns and allegations regarding adults and young people in Scouting, including supporting the suspension process where appropriate

Previous experience is not required as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. These roles are based in our Essex office in Ingatestone. There may be an option to split the work between home and the office. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.
Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.
As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

About you
To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.
You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive, have access to your own car and be flexible to spend nights away from home occasionally within the UK at short notice..

About the role:
You will be supporting people on the telephone, by text or email from a variety of different backgrounds, all with different experiences. No two days are the same & you will need to use your communication skills and resilient nature to help those dealing with trauma and the effects of crime, who may have gone through a life-changing experience. You will be supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse. Previous experience is not required as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. You will also receive ongoing support to ensure that you can provide victims with quick responses to meet their needs and help them cope and recover.
These roles are based in our Essex office in Ingatestone. There may be an option to split the work between home and the office. Support Coordinator
We are looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Kent.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to provide support following a stroke.
Position: S11146 Stroke Support Coordinator
Location: Home-based – North Kent, West Kent and Medway however, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Hours: Full-time 35 hour per week post (FTE) and 21-hour week part-time.
Salary: Circa £25,500 per annum FTE (pro rata for part time hours)
Contract: Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2025.

The Role
The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes. A key part of the role will be to support service users and the delivery of the service.
Reporting to the Stroke Association Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:
· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
· Provide personalised information, advice and support.
· Support clients to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.
· Be accountable for volunteers, so experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an advantage.
· You will have excellent IT skills and demonstrate a flexible approach to your role.
About You
The post holder will have experience/background in:
· A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
· Setting up and running groups.
This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.

Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week (flexible working)
Salary: Circa £20,470 per annum (FTE circa £25,588.50 per annum)
