An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Development Worker to join our Cambridgeshire team on a Full time basis. The post will be home based with work across Cambridgeshire including advocacy drop ins, advocacy groups and providing training to support people to learn to advocate for themselves. You will begin to develop a team of volunteers that can support some of this work.
You will be promoting POhWER who support a wide range of vulnerable adults often with profound and multiple needs, so experience of networking will be valuable, along with a good working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.
The successful applicant will be a self-starter with a proven track record in relationship establishment and development and also have experience in community engagement. You will receive a full personalised induction programme and role specific training. Your line manager and supervisor will support you as you develop into your role. A full induction and training schedule will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in, or a good understanding of, advocacy, information and advice or similar role - ideally in a health, social care or voluntary setting and will have experience of promoting the support of vulnerable adults. More importantly to us, you will need to share our values and passion about advocacy. This is an opportunity to add real value to the lives of vulnerable people.
Because of the nature and location of the role, applicants must live within the advertised area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport. Travel expenses will only be paid within the Cambridgeshire border.

About the role: You will be the first point of contact for victims/survivors of domestic abuse. You will answer calls to the charity’s helpline, dealing with enquiries and referrals from other agencies, and providing immediate emotional and practical support. You will use approved risk assessment tools to triage victims of domestic abuse to the correct BCWA service, for example our refuge or outreach services, or signposting them to external agencies where appropriate. You will need to recognise, respect and address the needs of clients who face particular barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from diverse communities, LGBTQ communities, people with disabilities, women and girls with complex needs and other hard to reach groups.

Title: Housing Access Officer - known internally as Housing Procurement Officer

You’ll join our London Wide Services at an exciting time, helping to deliver an outstanding pan London property access service across the private and social rented sector and contributing to the delivery of Housing First. Working alongside a variety of services across the organisation, you will identify housing opportunities, negotiate new partnerships, nurture existing relationships, and strive to establish routes into sustainable housing for people who have experienced homelessness by working with Landlords across London.
It’s a role requiring a creative approach and strong negotiation skills as you partner with both Landlords and Crisis’ Client Services. You will be responsible for bringing two sectors together and ensuring the interest of everyone involved are looked after, supporting the creation of tenancies that end people’s homelessness. The role is pan London, and you will work collaboratively with our 3 London services to ensure tenants receive the support they need to sustain their homes. Crisis is also in the process of establishing a brand new lettings agency, in partnership with Homes for Good – Scotland’s award winning social enterprise letting agency. About you
Understanding of housing law is essential along with the ability to develop, build and maintain key relationships.
Crisis are looking for a talented, motivated individual to join the Housing Access Team in London who wants to use their skills and experience working with landlords in the private sector, accessing accommodation to help end homelessness for the people we support.
With in-depth knowledge of the housing market in London, its unique challenges and opportunities and possessing excellent interpersonal skills which will support them to negotiate with landlords and access good quality affordable accommodation for our members. Thorough understanding of landlord’s legal responsibilities is essential coupled with insight into the needs of people experiencing homelessness and the challenges and stigma they face accessing good quality affordable accommodation.
A good understanding of the benefits system and how it relates to housing is key along with an ability to work alongside colleagues directly supporting people experiencing homelessness to ensure they are supported into sustainable tenancies so their homelessness is ended for good.

Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. We are recruiting a number of Triage and Early Intervention Officers. You will be supporting people on the telephone, by text or email from a variety of different backgrounds, all with different experiences. No two days are the same & you will need to use your communication skills and resilient nature to help those dealing with trauma and the effects of crime, who may have gone through a life-changing experience. Previous experience is not required as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. You will also receive ongoing support to ensure that you can provide victims with quick responses to meet their needs and help them cope and recover.
These roles are based in our Essex office in Ingatestone. There may be an option to split the work between home and the office. You will be working within a supportive team that is part of a large independent charity which offers the opportunity to develop skills to enhance your ongoing personal development. Since 2003, YSS has been delivering rehabilitation and resettlement services to adults in the Criminal Justice System. In partnership with NACRO, YSS deliver accommodation services to those on a probation community order, or custodial license across Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Telford & Wrekin. Our accommodation services include prison pre and post release support
Our aim is to break-down the barriers to maintaining, or securing, suitable and settled accommodation, including difficulties accessing social housing or securing accommodation within the private rental sector due to having served a prison sentence, financial hurdles and/or a lack of knowledge/experience to navigate the housing market.
The Role:
As Accommodation Support Officer you will provide structured, tailored, one-to-one, rehabilitation and resettlement support to individuals on a custodial license and under supervision in the community. The support provided aims to help individuals overcome any barriers to obtaining and retaining secure and stable accommodation so that they can successfully reintegrate into society.
Your role will principally work with individuals managed in the relevant probation delivery units, offering a mixture of face to face and remote working. Your primary base will be determined by the area closest to where you reside and there will be an expectation that you travel to probation offices that you cover at agreed intervals. Mileage costs will be paid from your base to other offices.
There is an expectation for the team to also support delivery in other areas, within our service, according to need.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
· Support service users to sustain, maintain or break down barriers to accommodation.
· Carry out accommodation needs assessments.
· Record, monitor and review progress against individual and service objectives, to demonstrate impact and outcomes achieved.
· Enable and motivate service users to identify and achieve desired accommodation outcomes.
· Actively engage with service users to obtain feedback around decisions that affect them.
· Risk assess and take the necessary actions in respect of any activities/engagement undertaken with service users including personal safety, lone-working and safeguarding.
· Understand professional boundaries and ensure that your role and remit is made clear to all service users you engage with.
· Work collaboratively in multi-agency settings as required. This includes maintaining professional relationships and appropriate levels of confidentiality of information.
· Meet individual performance targets and contribute towards meeting team performance targets in respect of the service.
· Provide cover for other team members of the Accommodation Support Services Team.
· Maintain up to date records via relevant and appropriate systems within specified timeframes and produce reports as required.

You’ll also need experience of working in a customer-focused environment or service and an understanding of the issues associated with individuals who may have complex support needs. Comfortable working in partnership with other key agencies and local communities, you’re also adept at identifying and monitoring key compliance in respect of health & safety requirements relating to properties and tenants. What’s more, you’re well organised, great at negotiating and developing effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and happy to provide housing training to colleagues.

Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with partner organisations, local employers and Mental Health teams and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. The ABC service will be a valuable point of contact for anyone affected by crime at any time to contact and receive help, support and information. It will be a busy and fast paced hub, receiving calls of varying nature from a variety of people.

The role of Initial Support Agent (known internally as a Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO)) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the Affected By Crime (ABC) service in Humberside.

About the role:
Your role as a TEIO will be to answer and speak to incoming callers as well as to hold a caseload and make outgoing calls to those affected by crime. You will be the primary contact for the Hub across Humberside and will be the face of the service.
As a TEIO, you will;
- answer incoming calls, speak to those affected by crime and hold a caseload
- make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
- work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
- liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
- work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime
You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.
You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.
