We are recruiting for a Divisional Children’s Worker to provide practical knowledge, expertise, and example of children’s ministry. Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucestershire.  Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Key responsibilities include:

• Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
• Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.
• Contributing into the planning and review process for the programmes and activities across the division.

This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have:

• A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership.
• Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes.
• Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media.
• The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.
• A clean driving licence

This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian.

Caseworker

Forces Employment Charity is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Caseworker to join our team working on the CFO (Co-financing Organisation) programme in partnership with the probation service. In this role, you will provide specialist support to veterans within the criminal justice system, focused on early intervention, support and diversion to prevent re-offending. You will work closely with probation staff, partner organisations and lead providers to identify, engage and deliver emotional and practical support to veteran clients.

This is a Full-time 35 hours per week, home based role with regular attendance at Lewisham and Croydon Activity Hubs and frequent travel throughout the UK. This role has a salary £29,000 pa.

This will be a fixed term contract till 31 July 2024.

For the CFO programme, Forces Employment Charity is working in partnership with probation service staff and other partner organisations to provide specialist support for veterans in the justice system.This support is focused on early intervention, support and diversion at point of contact with justice system in order to prevent re-offending.

The successful applicant will be providing activities and support to clients within a formal contractual framework working to challenging targets.The role holder will need a strong beneficiary focus and the ability to rapidly form relationships with partners and local agencies.

• Work with partners to identify and engage veterans with the CFO Programme.
• Undertake needs assessments with each veteran and jointly develop their support plan.
• Work as part of a team, together with Probation Service Staff and Lead Provider staff, was well as partner organisations providing specialist support.
• Deliver emotional and practical support to veterans working with partner organisations to provide specialist support for each individual as required.
• Work with the veteran to secure employment.
• Optimise the delivery of activities which are separately billed as part of CFO Programme.
• Ensure that all activity is recorded on the MOJ CATs system, or other system as required by the contract.
• Deliver any further activities reasonably required by the Op Nova National Manager or CFO Contract Manager, the Nova National Manager and the Forces Employment Charity.

Homeless Recovery Worker

Working across Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch

£23,775 progressing to £25,027 plus excellent benefits

Our Client supports people who are homeless across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. This is a new service that starts in June, so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of their set up and implementation of this team.

They have a new opportunity for a Homeless Recovery Worker to join them to work with people who are experiencing repeat homelessness and rough sleeping and who face multiple challenges.

This is a key role in which you will support clients and help them to progress and achieve their goals. Your positive attitude towards your work and your team will help to contribute to a great working environment.  You will have a calm and personable manner and be resilient to potentially difficult situations.

Some of your duties will include: 

• Supporting your own caseload of clients and working with them on a one to one basis out in the community and in the clients homes. 
• Identifying their needs and putting together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them
• Linking with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation
• Working with people to identify their strengths and talents, and encourage them to focus and build on these
• Helping clients to access the benefits they are entitled to claim
• Encouraging their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering
• Helping them improve their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework and managing a tenancy
• Working with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community.
• Gaining knowledge and understanding of the Housing First principles and how Housing First uses a client-led approach 
• Working in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures

What you will bring:

They have a new opportunity for a Night Support Worker to join their night team to provide support to their homeless clients.

Your primary role will be to keep their service and the people that use it, safe. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.

Some of your duties will include: 

• Being the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service

• Providing informal support to clients and be a listening ear

• Responding to incoming calls

• Managing clients and their visitors within the building and any associated safety issues. Dealing with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary

• Monitoring the service and surrounding areas that are covered by CCTV

• Carrying out regular visual checks / fire checks on the interior and exterior of the buildings and car park 

• Working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy and procedure

• Providing basic First Aid assistance until help arrives – Full training provided

Their night workers will usually work a 12 hour (waking) shift between 7.30pm - 7.30am, on a four night on, four night off rota.  Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

The Junction is an out of hours “calming café” service which is open 365 days of the year to support people experiencing pre and/or mental health crisis. The aim of the project is to alleviate the need for people within the Swindon locality to access A&E and/or acute mental health services.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, you will be providing a preventative, person centred approach to people accessing the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service is open from 4PM-11PM and there are positions available for part time hours and full time hours and  working patterns will include some weekends.

About the role:

You will be support victims of ASB, working with a multitude of partners across all local authority areas to ensure their expectations of services are clear and their personal needs are met. You will work with both adults and young people & work closely with partners. Ultimately, you will help them cope, recover and move forward from their experiences.

You will provide high quality support to all victims of Anti-Social Behaviour managing a caseload and offering support over the telephone and in person, including home visits. You will assess the victims needs and provide emotional support, advocacy and practical help.

You will also mentor and be responsible for volunteers who will assist you with your caseload and support lower risk victims.

You will work closely with the local Council(s) ASB team and environmental health department, police, housing and other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for victims, as well as a wide variety of people including people with additional vulnerabilities and repeat victims.

You will need to work well in a multi-agency environment, be dynamic, organised and flexible in how you work and support our clients.
