Job Purpose

This role sits within our Adult Services, across Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow. You will be responsible for the operational delivery and service development, of a portfolio of services. Namely (but subject to change):

• Safe Space Community
• Safe Space ED
• Hounslow Helpline
• Nova Roots (Forensic Community Hub)

One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00(midday) – 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3 in person Safe Spaces and based in 3 A&E.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.

The Role

The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.

Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.

The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.

They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements.

The Role 

 This Casework Coordinator role is based within the Services Directorate.  In part, this directorate focuses its support on refugees who have been recognised as having protection needs and have been granted permission to stay in the UK but are now struggling to rebuild their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Many need advice and guidance in areas such as housing, health, welfare support, education/training and employment.

The Refugee Council’s Private Renting Scheme is based in London and has been delivering specialised support to new refugees wanting to access private rented accommodation in London since 2012. Working with private landlords and other housing providers our Private Renting Scheme creates tenancy opportunities for new refugees and provides support and advice to ensure tenancies are suitable and sustainable.

The postholder will work with private landlords and other housing providers to secure tenancies for clients. The postholder will also provide casework support to clients, ensuring they are ready to secure and sustain a tenancy. This will involve providing casework support dealing with the key issues of housing and welfare benefits.

 The Casework Coordinator will work closely with others to ensure we effectively manage and support our caseload of clients and run an effective advice service. This role will take responsibility for the progression of its own caseload with the support of volunteers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Advice and Advocacy Work 

• To provide face to face advice and support to adult refugees in a sensitive, confidential and professional manner which fully understands the needs of the individual.
• To create links and work effectively with private landlords and other housing providers (such as housing associations, housing cooperatives, low needs housing providers) to create accessible, suitable and sustainable tenancy options for clients.

Equalities and Diversity 

• To provide services with due regard for equalities and for meeting the needs of all potential and actual service users. Ensuring advice services are delivered in ways which are fully accessible and in a language that they can understand. 
•  To ensure volunteers act as advocates for new refugees, ensuring these are taken into account by other agencies. 

General 

• To recruit, manage, supervise and train volunteers who provide invaluable support in the day-to-day delivery of the service.
• To participate in Refugee Council working groups, management meetings and special projects as the need arise

Our client is recruiting for Support Workers for across their Hackney services (1 of which is a women only service). 

Their services (one being a specific women only service) provide accommodation and additional emergency bed spaces to people with a Hackney connection, who are at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping, and also have additional support needs which include; substance use, mental health or longer term complex needs.

Their hostels offer a range of services to clients at different stages in the process of change and works closely with an adjacent health and advice centre operated by partner agencies. Operationally, the service focuses on promoting recovery, providing assessment, support and resettlement services within a framework of active engagement and person-centred planning. The project is committed to supporting continued client participation in all aspects of its work.

GSU Advocacy and Policy Team is leading an award-winning outreach project that seeks to support students to stay and succeed at Greenwich. A team of part-time student staff call 1000’s of students each term, supporting them to navigate University life, services and GSU. This role will support the award-winning team to deliver proactive supportive calls to students.

In this post you will :

• To supervise the retention calling project staff
• To support with escalations for students experiencing difficulties
• To spot trends in student issues and assist with reporting

This role sits within the Advocacy and Policy Team and focus on making 1-1 timely interventions to support students to succeed as well as identifying broader trends in student behaviour to inform our strategic approach to services and support.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

This post holder will be part of the Advocacy and Policy Team and will be expected to contribute to the department’s wider objectives and planning.

Delivery of Outreach

• Coordinate the team to deliver outbound phone calls and taking inbound calls in a call centre model, including opening and closing

You will provide first line management to a team of Community Support Worker (Positive Behaviour Support), developing their capability through demonstrating the right values and behaviours, mentoring staff, and supporting their ongoing development.

You will work alongside other practitioners within the residential home and community, to upskill and increase the resilience of children and their families. Salary – £25,546 (£13.10ph) rising to £27,590 (£14.15) from April 2024 based on incremental pay progression.

Age UK Kensington & Chelsea offers dementia services which make a real difference to residents affected by the condition living in the Borough. Those services include advice, practical help, befriending, social activities and emotional support. The Dementia Support Worker is responsible for managing a caseload of individual clients, providing practical and emotional support to the most isolated and vulnerable in our community. The support takes the form of weekly or bi-weekly visits to the client’s home, as well as contact by phone and email and liaising with social care and health professionals as directed by the client’s wishes or needs.

This role requires the worker to work independently and manage their own caseload. With other members of the Dementia Services team, the Dementia Support Worker will also help with transport, group activities, trips, events, training and local forums.

Since 2005, we have expanded across multiple regions and now provide accommodation and outreach support to hundreds of survivors of modern slavery every year. In 2018, we collaborated with South Yorkshire Police in an initiative called Plan B. This helped to launch the LifeNavigate department. Using, a trauma-informed approach, we are fully committed to breaking the cycle of crime, alongside other organisations such as South Yorkshire Police and Merseyside Police. Our vision is to ensure a thriving future for marginalised and vulnerable people, and it would not be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Male ReFocus Advocate within our LifeNavigate Team based in Merseyside. The aim of this project is to support and signpost individuals who meet relevant criteria and show a motivation to change after being identified as being at potential risk of committing low level Domestic Abuse. A key element of this project is that it is survivor focused and looks to address abusive behaviours at their source, at an early intervention phase, via support and education. This means working with both those who have carried out such acts and those who have been made subject to them. The successful candidate is expected to support a caseload of individuals in order to jointly assess and manage any initial risk and to ensure all safeguarding protocols have been followed. The role is not that of and IDSVA, although some of the skills will overlap, the is to provide on-going support to individuals in areas
of need in which they feel disempowered and hence build confidence and skills. This process will happen in partnership with the organisation DMAT who will run ‘See the signs’ course which will look to educate and equip individuals to feel safe and empowered in this area. You will be working in an agile and responsive team environment and be part of the team providing support and pathways to those who have experienced domestic abuse. When capacity dictates, there will also be a requirement to work with people displaying potentially abusive or coercive behaviours (perpetrators), offering education and support to promote long term change. Due to the nature of working with victims of gender based abuse it’s important we have the flexibility to offer victims the opportunity to be supported by someone of the same gender, because of this we are currently recruiting for a male applicant.

Responsibilities:
• Providing support for individuals who are subject to low level Domestic Abuse (primarily male victims).
• The full time Advocate will oversee up to 16-20 clients of varying levels of support need at any one time.
• To work effectively as a team, including giving responsive feedback and handover information to Line Manager, and colleagues where there is a shared caseload, especially in regard to partnership with DMAT.
• To independently meet deadlines, including accurately recording and logging details of support, documenting relevant service user information and completing other administrative paperwork in adherence to the terms of the contract.
• To risk assess using the DASH model and take appropriate steps to safeguard service users.
• To create and follow individual support plans and ensuring all service users safety and well-being is paramount at all times.
• To arrange appointments for individual service users, and liaise with organisations and individuals regarding service users in a professional manner.
• Signpost service users to appropriate support.
• Supporting service users face to face (where suitable) in an appropriate environment, including using remote sessions where needed.
• To facilitate engagement of service users on the ‘See the Signs’ course, including journey planning and move on strategies, within the required time frame.
• To regularly attend supervision meetings with Line Manager. Adhering to all internal procedures regarding Causeway and any relevant legislation especially with regard to the Domestic Abuse Act (2021).
• When required, to work with perpetrators of low level domestic abuse, facilitating their engagement with the ‘See the Signs’ course, ongoing risk assessment, and provision of holistic support to promote lasting change.

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, innovative team player to join our Young People and Families Service in Scotland. This role will be based in Scotland, ideally close to Glasgow but will support service delivery across Scotland and the UK.

As a Young People and Families Worker you will work with colleagues, partners, healthcare professionals, schools, volunteers, families and – most importantly – young people to co-plan, deliver and evaluate a high quality, holistic support offer locally and nationally.

You will help young people living with arthritis to build their confidence, make friends and achieve their personal goals. You’ll also co-design an exciting programme of social events, youth voice opportunities, digital content and residential events. You will support young people during the pivotal transition from paediatric to adult services and life, making sure it is a time of empowerment and growth.

• To enable organisations to develop appropriate documentation. To produce model documents in plain language, in particular health and safety, data protection and environmental policies
• To provide organisation specific advice and information by telephone, email and one to one advice sessions (inn person and virtual)
• To design, organise and, if appropriate, deliver training events, webinars, lunch time seminars, meetings, events, and conferences for VCS organisations as required.
• Contribute to the development of tools and resources for defining and supporting the organisational development needs of small and medium sized VCS groups
• To ensure the provision of advice and information through the website, on demand webinars, newsletters, special briefing supplements, etc.
• Be understanding and be particularly supportive to VCS groups who face additional barriers in accessing support and in applying advice and learning
• Encouraging and facilitating the sharing of skills and resources between VCS organisations.

About this key role
As our Children and Families Caseworker, you will support individuals who are affected by domestic violence, C.S.E, Mental health, grooming and exploitation, and gang and serious youth violence, all of which will include working with both victims and perpetrators.  You will carry and review thorough risk management plans with young people and their family, ensuring each family member has an age-appropriate safety plan, and provide a client-led support service that responds to each individual’s needs, including supporting with housing, finances, schooling, parenting, health, ETE and criminal justice. We will rely on you to deliver the service in a timely and targeted manner and to close cases effectively and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that can be used for ongoing support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future.  Providing social support to children and family members, including identification of need, liaison and referral to specialist agencies, is also a key element of this role.

What we are looking for

• To have lived experience similar to that of the client group or to have worked on an offender-led/ social care service with a commitment to utilising a peer-led approach
• Proven record of working with and supporting volunteers in a community setting
• The ability to recruit, engage and keep the target client group motivated
• Experience of calculating risk and implementing safety procedures for vulnerable clients
• Experience of supporting and mentoring young people and adults, including socially excluded children
• Mentoring Level 3 qualification (or be willing to work towards this)
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.
