Job description

As director you will lead a well-organised charity. You will fulfil the many roles and tasks needed in a small organisation, whilst working for the future supported by a stable, approachable and experienced board of trustees.

We are looking for an individual who can deliver both management and strategy. As the most public face of SAGE you will be raising the profile of the organisation and also generating income and managing operations.

The work will be demanding but varied and interesting. The successful candidate will understand the service delivery, and possibly occasionally assist this. There will be regular contact with the public, referral agencies, beneficiaries, trustees and other organisations.

SAGE has supported adults with mental health needs for nearly 20 years. We work with individuals presenting a wide range of psychological, social and physical needs to help them build resilience, reduce isolation and enjoy more fulfilled lives. Most support has been delivered from allotments at Grimesthorpe, and through a singing group. Our Covid secure delivery has enabled face to face working again for several months. The organisation employs 3 part time staff supported by enthusiastic volunteers.

In common with most charities we are facing financial pressures that pre-date Covid, but have been exacerbated by this. Funding is secured until at least the end of July, and the outcome of further funding bids is awaited.
