Are you a counsellor / psychotherapist with an IAPT approved qualification?
Do you want to make a positive difference to male victims / survivors of sexual abuse?
If you answered YES, we want to hear from you about joining the team. Please see our website or email the team.
Since 2009, Survivors Manchester has been at the forefront of developing trauma-informed interventions; setting best practice guidelines for working with male survivors; and lobbying to create change for boys and men as victims / survivors to be recognised. Since opening the doors, we have seen over 2,500 males; have been part of three big soap storylines including the Hollyoaks Football Abuse and the Coronation Street David Platt rape story – which saw a 1700% increase in calls for support.
Based in the City Centre, on the Manchester / Salford border, our centre welcomes males aged 16+ who have experienced any form of unwanted sexual experiences, along with their loved ones, with the aim of supporting individuals through their healing journey as we support the development of a period of stabilisation, moving through a processing stage where individuals begin to make sense of their experiences, to move to the point of acceptance and acknowledge the experience as part of their story whilst breaking free from the past.
We believe that healing is a journey rather than a destination and as a staff team and at the core of the organisation, we are committed to supporting individuals for as long as they want on their journey.
You will get to join an amazing bunch of counsellors / psychotherapists, from a range of therapeutic backgrounds and ‘home bases’; work alongside the first male specific Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service in the UK; and be part of what we believe is an amazing organisation.
You’ll be provided with ‘off site’ independent supervision by a trauma-informed supervisor; an generous holiday package, including your birthday off; and access specific trauma-informed training, including working with male survivors, and how to work within the criminal justice system
We also provide on site line management; hold regular team meetings and an annual conference.
