About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us and influence real change in Scotland, to help drive our vision forward, a vision of a more sustainable future in transport that has never been more relevant.

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, you will support you Network Engagement Manager in promoting the National Cycle Network (NCN). You will empower community groups and the wider public to opt for new traffic-free paths and infrastructure, such as bridges, for everyday journeys and the potential for leading towards further development in the area.

You will build relationships with communities, businesses, Partners, and interest groups around existing and future NCN infrastructure projects so that we can work in partnership and deliver our projects successfully.

You will create a new strategic plan which will prioritise engagement with communities on our various projects across Scotland.

You will support Sustrans’ Research and Monitoring Unit (RMU) in monitoring, evaluating and evidence gathering to demonstrate the benefits of our interventions and engagement across the NCN. This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects. Candidates should be based in Scotland.

About you

You must be passionate and enthusiastic about Sustrans’ work and build relationships with ease, bringing your experience of working cross-organisationally, using skills to support your managers to build on and enhance existing partnerships within Sustrans and external partners.

You must be a skilled communicator with excellent negotiating skills, as you will play a key role in supporting your managers, liaising with partners to reshape our towns, cities, and countryside in favour of active travel.

We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity, and enabling inclusion.
