About the Role
Our newly created Programme Lead role will support us to become a more diverse and inclusive charity. A charity that reflects the demographics of the UK and brings together diverse life experiences and voices, where people feel included and able to make a difference.
All urban design, including ‘active travel’, is not neutral, it either perpetuates or reduces social inequity. People working to design, plan and improve transport, now more than ever, need to better understand the implications of the decisions they take from the perspectives of all communities and voices. We are too often part of the problem even if we do not realise it and For Everyone expresses Sustrans’ commitment to improvement.
We believe in working collaboratively, so are looking for someone with a track record of building productive relationships. You will be someone who thinks strategically and creatively and is a natural influencer and coach. Someone who can develop, implement and champion our inclusivity and diversity programme internally and externally, building cultural awareness and inclusive leadership capability.
If this is you and you have experience of equality, diversity and inclusion strategy and practice we would love to hear from you. We have put together a candidate information pack for this role which you can find on our website.
Closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 9am Wednesday 28 October 2020. Interviews will take place via MS Teams on Tuesday 10 November 2020.
Should Sustrans receive an overwhelming number of applications for this vacancy, the decision may be taken to close it earlier than the advertised closing date, so please ensure your application is submitted as soon as possible.
This role was previously advertised but on reflection we felt that we needed to change some of the criteria to make our commitment to including everyone more obvious. If you have already applied, you do not need to reapply as we will consider your original application.
Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion. We welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, particularly where we are under-represented. Currently this includes people who identify as having a disability and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
