About the role

An exciting opportunity for a creative, imaginative individual to take forward this role in our Partnerships Team, as a Marketing and Communications Officer.

This is a rewarding job in which you will work closely with internal and external partners. Working in collaboration with our existing Marketing and Communications Officer, you will help to build on the team’s strengths in traditional communications work (television, radio, newspapers, magazines), especially with the local media across the region.

You will have the opportunity to lead on your own specific projects. These projects will include helping us to develop our regional marketing and engagement offer that supports and follows the charity’s guidance on branding / key messages and contributes towards raising Sustrans’ profile.

We are very open to what this might look like, and ideally you will add to our team by bringing new ideas and innovation in the way we communicate with our partners and audiences.

The role will report to the West Midlands Partnership Manager, whilst working closely with all other regional teams; particularly the England Director, and the Head of Partnerships.

This role may require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within commutable distance to a local Midlands hub in Birmingham, Peterborough or Nottingham with hybrid home working available.

About you

You will have experience working in a communications environment, with the ability to write and/or edit engaging content for publications, press releases and websites.

Your communication skills, both oral and written, should be exemplary; allowing you to interact with diverse audiences and build relationships with ease.

You should have experience working with creative colleagues and agencies, applying brand and style guidelines with a good understanding of the business communications environment, including media, digital and marketing.
