About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Officer to join our Connected Communities team in Wales to support the Sustrans Cymru team in the development of high-quality cycling, walking, streetscape, and community projects which covers a diverse character with a blend of city regions and National Parks with everything in between.

Our Project Officer roles help to develop accessible walking, wheeling, and cycling routes for everyone. This role will particularly focus on delivering our Paths for Everyone vision for the National Cycle Network which aims to improve the number and quality of traffic-free paths across the UK.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects including feasibility studies, route auditing activities, concept design, community engagement and mapping in collaboration with other Sustrans teams and resources.

Supporting partnerships with local authorities, other key delivery bodies and the wider Sustrans team in Wales, your role will help ensure that projects are supported to achieve successful outcomes.

This role will require travel to a range of locations as necessary to undertake project delivery and support partner organisations. Candidates should ideally be based in North or Mid-Wales or be easily able to travel to locations within these areas. There may be occasional need for wider travel.

Knowledge of the Welsh language is an added advantage for this role but is not essential.

You should have the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people from varied backgrounds, allowing you to effectively communicate with colleagues and partners alike.

You will use your knowledge and experience of the issues surrounding walking, wheeling, and cycling infrastructure to support delivery of high-quality improvements for active travel users.
