Role: Clinical Lead

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (pro rata) 


An opportunity is available for a Clinical Lead to join the team at SV2. The Clinical Lead will report to the Head of Therapy.


The purpose of this role is to provide clinical leadership and management of SV2’s high quality, specialist Therapy Service, which offers face to face, telephone and online therapeutic support, counselling sessions (including pre-trial therapy) and support groups to individuals (and secondary survivors) who have experienced sexual abuse or rape. Support is offered whether or not the individual chooses to report to the Police. Services are funded through multiple contracts and grants.


The Clinical Lead will also provide line management to the Therapy Team and support to subcontracted therapists who work within a multi-agency setting to provide an empathic and pro-active service to victims of sexual violence adults and children and their families, within and outside of the criminal justice system, across the county. There are currently 5FTE employed Therapists and 16 subcontracted therapists.


The Clinical Lead position comes with a salary scale of £38,000 - £45,000 per annum pro rata dependant on experience, a flexible working scheme, ongoing skills development and training, an enhanced annual leave scheme of 28 days plus bank holidays per annum and a company pension scheme.


The role is 30 to 37.5 hours per week and is based at our office in Alfreton but will also require the post holder to travel to sites across the county, there is also flexibility to work from home.


The Organisation:

The Organisation is a Charity supporting victims of sexual violence across Derbyshire. The aims of the Charity are; to reduce the impact of rape and sexual abuse on victims (male and female) and their families; to encourage reporting of rape and sexual abuse, if appropriate; to support victims through the criminal justice process and; to reduce the incidence of rape and sexual abuse by raising awareness. 


We are now looking for a dynamic Clinical Lead to manage the effective delivery of the charity’s Therapy Services.


Clinical Lead Main Duties:

  • As clinical lead, offer clinical advice and consultation on clients’ psychological wellbeing to other staff members, sub-contracted therapists, student & volunteer counsellors and external organisations involved with those clients
  • Provide direct line management and motivation for the Therapy Team including induction, training, line management meetings and appraisals to ensure achievement of SV2’s objectives
  • Facilitate and chair meetings with sub-contracted therapists, such as Quarterly Meetings, Clinical Reflection Groups and other relevant meetings
  • Oversee the collation of data and preparation of reports to support contractual and grant requirements, fundraising and business development activities.
  • Ensure effective partnership working to ensure client protection, smooth referral pathways and promote the service, most specifically between other mental health and counselling providers such as IAPT services and CAMHS, the Local Authority and Multi Agency Safeguarding arrangements
  • Develop and deliver training to staff, sub-contracted therapists, students & volunteers on SV2’s therapeutic services
  • Develop the successful Counselling Placement Programme for adults and for Children/Young People, ensuring that SV2 and University requirements are met
  • Undertake internal audit and quality assurance, document findings and oversee necessary areas for improvement in quality to ensure accreditation is achieved and maintained
  • Maintain and develop effective professional relationships with relevant agencies


Clinical Lead Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy
  • Level 3 Safeguarding training
  • Evidence of CPD and further training ideally including Clinical Supervision or Trauma studies
  • 750 hours post qualification practice
  • Experience in managing and supporting staff to deliver services effectively
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of undertaking therapeutic assessments
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working specifically with this client group
  • Extensive knowledge & awareness of rape, sexual abuse, rape trauma syndrome and their effects within the therapeutic setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of therapeutic approaches to counselling
  • Knowledge and experience in relation to the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children
  • Ability to create and implement effective outcome based care plans
  • Ability to research and map services and produce meaningful up-to-date pathways
  • Able to maintain professional, well written and comprehensive notes, write reports
  • Ability to negotiate and influence a wide variety of different professions, working in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Should be Competent in the use of IT i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, etc
  • Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to own transport which will need to be insured for business use
  • Accredited member of BACP or a similar professional body
