Assistant Psychologist 

SWAAY is a specialist provider of therapeutic care for adolescent males who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour. Based in the Thames Valley, we work with 10-21 year olds who have engaged in inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviour and who have often suffered multiple forms of trauma themselves. SWAAY provides all-encompassing, 52 week care, education and therapy for the young people placed in our residential service as well as outreach therapeutic services to young people who reside in the community.

About the role: 

We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to join our therapy team. It is envisaged that this job will involve development and observation of our group therapy programmes, undertaking aspects of the psychometric assessments, assisting with research projects and assisting the team with day-to-day administration tasks. 

About you: 

The successful candidate will have an interest in working collaboratively with young people as well as the necessary communication skills to work closely with internal professionals. The person will be working within a multidisciplinary team and must thus be able to work as part of a team but also happy to take personal initiative. 

Good verbal and written communication skills are essential and experience of conducting assessments is desirable. Successful applicants will display a positive attitude, will be emotionally resilient, will act as a role model to the children and young people and will display empathy, creativity and a sense of fun. 

The successful candidate should have a BSc in Psychology or equivalent. 

A full induction to the organisation will be provided and there will be opportunities to attend both internal and external CPD events. Supervision will be provided by an experienced member of the therapy team (1.5hrs mth).
